yes, love is strong and dying of a broken heart is a real scientifically proven death - in a way the heart is like our emotional brain and this song tugs at the heart strings. When superman soared on the screen my heart swelled with joy, even as it does with simple things like watching spring leaves unfold on the tree outside the window or playing music with others. The fear and anger in the world cannot quench the love in the human heart.

I love this comment. I could’ve wrote it. Everything in my life has been justified by how pretty I am or not pretty enough depending on who was in my life at the time. I surrender my life to Jesus Christ and now know the meaning of true pure love. If you’re reading this now and September Oh 2021, surrender now your life to Jesus Christ. The only meaning in life is to worship our creator. The God of Abraham Isaac and Jacob. Blessings to you all of you

The real Superman depicted in this song is within each and everyone of us. Trying to do everything for our love ones. That no matter how hard we try to protect our love ones, trying to be strong for them ( esp. In times of great sickness and/or soldiers at war)...we have to admit that we still bleed inside. That we have the capacity to do great and even impossible things because of the love we have inside of us. A song dedicated for mothers who sacrifices their life and health just to give life to another human being. We don't have wings but we have love inside which can cross even the vast oceans or even fly way past into the moon. Salute to all who have so much in their hearts.

When I was a kid I just view this as that “superman song”. But as I grew up I realised how incredible the lyrics are; it’s about viewing the other side of a story; how superman in our mind is that perfect beacon of happiness and strength everyone wants to be- but the truth is that perhaps he never even existed. Perhaps the real superman is afraid of flying, is suffering from loneliness, is burdened by his own power, lives eternal but dies alone. Superman is a symbol of our naive way of viewing the world when we never saw pass the layers. We grew up, we failed, we made mistakes, we get rejected, battered, disappointed, we fell in love, found a family, and realised that those naive dreams are not what it seems, it’s just the way it is, it’s not easy but it’s okay.

"I can't stand to fly. I am not that naive. Just out to find the better part of me. Wish I could cry fall upon my knees. Find a way to lie about a place I will never see." I totally relate to this. This hits home as guy who has never owned anything that I can call home. If I am some hero in some way. The song reminds me even heroes get stabbed and have the right to bleed. It's not easy to be me. Listening to this song years later I still find meaning true in those words.

I’m currently in one of the most difficult and saddest period of my life. I’m struggling everyday and I feel like pieces of me are breaking everyday. I find solace in music, in beautiful songs like this and in hope. I don’t know any of you who will read this comment, but I want to say that I love you all. Maybe I can’t understand your pain, what you are going through, but I wish all of you peace and a beautiful life. Even Superman, one of my most beloved superheroes, has troubles and he suffers, but he is the symbol of hope, and we can all be Superman a little bit if we Hope. One day maybe, we’ll be free from all of our pain and we’ll be flying high with happiness and feeling peace inside. I wish all of you all the peace life has taken away from you and I wish you all one day, to look back at your demons and your struggles and say “It wasn’t easy, but I did it, I’m still here, I’m fine, you no longer can control me”. I wish you all the best from the bottom of my heart and my soul ❤️.

hey, we don't have identical experiences and I'm sure your issues are significantly different from mine. but I do understand going through the worst issues of your life, at least up to the point of life you're experiencing, and I wanted to say that as hard as it is, relief eventually comes. Even if the initial issue sticks around in your brain and makes it hard to truly move on, you can move onto a new chapter of your life and spend years working through your initial hangups. For me, it was leaving a toxic dependant friendship with my best friend because he began dating a girl I had just spent a year confiding in him about a crush I had on her. Is it high school shit? Sure. But it fucking hurt more than just about anything. I haven't had consistent friends in my life. The fact that someone seemingly used my feelings to blow his nose into before throwing them in the bin, that was huge. And I struggled with that for years. Today, I hang out with my coworkers. I understand that my kindness is a choice. There is a Rational reaction and an Emotional reaction, and sometimes they don't align and you have to pick one. The cheat code is that if you spend too much time trying to rationalise an emotional response, you're going to realise that despite your best efforts, your emotions win. Don't torture yourself over "facts over feelings" and a need to reconcile everything. Let yourself feel whatever you need to feel. Usually, even if it's ugly and dark, you'll understand what you need to do to move forward.

The ending of the video really shows the true intent behind the song. You may initially relate it to just a song about Superman, but the true meaning is about being a husband and a father. As a man, you’re expected to be strong, stoic and basically a “super hero” to your family. How many of us see our dads as Superman? This song means more now than ever before, with masculinity under attack.

It's really amazing to see the different ways people relate to the song because for me as someone who's a huge fan of comic books and therefore Superman this song breaks my heart especially the part that talks about Superman dreaming of a world that he'll never see which is obviously about Krypton and how that's a whole life that he'll never know and how he carries the weight of the world and many worlds on his shoulder but he's Superman so he's expected to and it's crazy to see for me knowing how emotional that song makes me about a fictional character to see people related to their real life struggles and people in their life is truly a testament to how beautiful and powerful and magical music really is.

LeeAnn King What happened to him? :( (Sorry just curious)
@yuhmxxa62619 жыл бұрын
Duncan J. It's fine really, he was killed by my mother's (she isn't my mom anymore (legally)) boyfriend. They divorced a year before he died and she had cheated on him a lot and the man that killed my dad was one of her boyfriends. He was shot in the stomach and bled out. It's okay to talk about now, he died 5 years ago.

I fell in love with my husband when he sang this song. It’s been already 8 years… Wish I could go back to the moment just once.

Clarissa, I understand. I may have been born in the year 2000, but I deal with emotions everyday. I still plead happy: this song sums up emotions in a very different way than the kids today know. I understand what you mean all too well.

Dear stranger reading this. I don't know you but I know no matter how bad it feels right now, it will get better. the sun will rise and there will be another day where you don't feel the way you do right now. Making it through the pain you feel now will be worth those good moments ahead of you. Don't you give up on yourself, I believe in you and even though I don't know who you are, I love you.

Music was a huge part of my childhood in the early 2000s. It makes me miss living with all my siblings and parents and the memories of being a young kid ❤

Who has this on a weekly playlist? Forget all this "are you here in 2023/24" rubbish. We listen to it at least once a week because we appreciate it.....& perhaps love Smallville too.
