Been done and the answer was obvious B4 the 1st Thursday game. Same reason that Monday night is no longer the prime matchup each week. Also the same reason that we have flex schedules for Sunday afternoon games and December Saturday games ... Scheduling the best games of each and every 18-weeks, nine full months ahead of kickoff is impossible.

I think the main reason is the damn terrible match ups. There is no incentive to try to watch a Thursday game. That's why they had to start doing the color rush uniforms (which some of those uni's were flames)

I think what kneeling going away really proved was that most players really didn’t care. I mean, yes, ratings dipped (and in 2023 after what has happened to bud light and target amongst others it probable would be worse now) because conservatives actually boycott rather that whine on social media, but players saw that they had nothing to gain from joining in on the farce (excepting kneelin Kap, who would have been out of the league either way)so they moved on.

One good "trend" that went away was Booger McFarland. Dude started off with the "Booger cam" where they'd block the view of a ton of people who paid premium money to see a football game, then they put him in the box as an announcer where every fan of every team always groaned when they found out he was doing their game, finally they got rid of him and put him on a panel with other people who could always overrule what he said.

The Miller experiment was double ironic in a lot of ways. Monday Night games had sucked for years, so they thought a comedian might liven things up so to speak in garbage time. But that season had an amazing number of awesome games, and the Monday Night games started getting good again. This would probably make a good video about the wax and wane of the game. Once it went to ESPN, it officially died and just hasn’t had the prestige since.

I was a huge football fan until Kapernick and his fleeting NFL career started kneeling to bring attention to himself and use racial tension for his own benefit. And I stopped watching...permanently. And it's not so much about his message as it was about over-politicizing everything. As a conservative I don't want traditional conservative political ideologies crammed down people's throats at sporting events. Sports need to be a break from the unpleasantries of the every day world, not a reminder of all that's wrong with it. If CK wants to kneel, that's fine. But he's representing a brand that's worth billions. Clearly the threat of lost viewership was at least plausible enough for the league to neuter his self-aggrandizing. I'm not here to declare victory. I'm just pointing out boycotting does work to a point, and that not everyone wants to see politics on display at sporting events.
