Good work, Robert. I recently started looking into VA/VO because I was auditioning for regular acting. Your way of storytelling of your journey is really interesting. The effort clearly comes through, and it's a high-quality result. Stick with it. You've convinced me to order a blue yeti and try out for a couple of voice roles to try my luck.

Right on!! I’m a big believer that a Yeti is great to start off with, as long as you have a good recording space. Be sure to stick around and share your progress also!

Yessss!!! Let's go, Robert! I'm here for you, buddy. I've had a whole 3 clicks on my Fiverr gig, so I have not focused on that either. I may go update my demos and samples, but I won't hold my breath or anything. Keep going. You got this!

Let me encourage you. You are making the right steps, sometimes it can be hard even when you’re not working at the moment, and especially ones that cost financially. What I have heard in your channel on your reels, and the realness you bring is inspiring. I’m praying for you. You will make it keep makeing a little progress every day, and you will get there one step at a time.

Man, it’s takes a really good dude to take the time to write that type of encouragement. I can’t thank you enough for that. 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼 That’s the goal, to keep improving, even if just a little bit. I appreciate you taking the comment!

This is a great move in the right direction! It’s been the best decision I’ve made in VO moving on from fiverr as a main focus into auditioning for projects, I got so much more success being cast for indie games, animations and stuff in the past 2 months than fiverr for the last 2 years since I started VO. As for advice on audition places, I’d say social media like twitter and Discord servers have been a major hookup for character work. However, for narration voiceover and commercials, the many voice acting talent rosters that open occasionally on twitter are good places to sign up for as some rosters have the different niches of voiceover you’d like to pursue

@@anthonytheva thanks a ton, Anthony. I don’t know my way around Discord well enough to be confident with that yet so I’ll have to look into it. Not quite sure how I’d leverage Twitter either. I have a personal account but not a business one. I appreciate the advice and I’ll be looking into it. 👍🏼

I'm quite new to voice over and have had some success on voice123 and nothing on fiverr --- audition is the way to go as you said it builds experience and the more you do it the less daunting it becomes

@@Goldsmithvo-jj7qz that seems to be the consensus and it’s time to jump on board. Thanks for stopping by!!

Whenever I tried to sell something (eBay/Kickstarter), I found out that those who where successful brought their own audience, which I did not have. So KZbin/social media is now my thing until I have an audience and only then can I proceed to sell stuff/service. Please consider KZbin :) Great video b.t.w.

Work/life/audition is intimidating even though I haven't even done my demo reel! I feel you, I'm scared too! Lol😅

Yep. Very few VOs find a path without it so it’s got to get done. If they did it, I can do it too.

You had an interesting slant that a lot of the KZbin VO guys have not talked about: I'm just starting out; how do a balance a day job with trying to get started doing Fiverr (or any other VO site); especially if you don't work from (home). I'm not sure you had a solution, but at least you brought it up. I've really been wondering how to do that. How can I be responsive to clients that want a VO sample now, when I have to wait till I get off work to record it. 🤷♂
@DayOneVoiceover13 күн бұрын
You know, the thing with samples now (as I understand it), is that AI has changed the approach. I still don’t exactly get a lot of traction on Fiverr but when I do, and they ask for a sample, the first thing I do is point to my demo reels. That should have everything they need. But if they insist on more, I will record something and purposely not have it be clean audio. fiber is already a low budget marketplace, I don’t need people cloning my voice for free with a quick sample. So with that said, maybe you can simply record something on your phone in a semi-quiet space? The last few samples I’ve provided have resulted in zero feedback. They take the sample then disappear. So I stopped doing it.

Also keep in mind that guy probably didnt make the 700K in a couple months. Probably took him alot more than that to hone his craft and get clients. Dont compare yourself and feel inadequate in that regard bro.

Oh you’re 100% correct. That guy has been as this for many years. But that’s a part of it. He established himself before Fiverr got too oversaturated. I’m going to keep the account open but I don’t know how seriously I can take it with $25 jobs being offered. It’s rough! Lol

@SuperMechguy2 ай бұрын
Don't feel discouraged man I know it doesn't seem good right now but, with time you'll pick up more sales. I'd say too make more gigs and branch out into different vo niches as well. Also, October is coming up so try to re-adjust your gig for spooky voice overs etc. I didn't make any sales till about one month into the game. Auditioning is another way to get gigs but, I've had terrible luck with CCC so I don't bother anymore. It's a lot of amateur hour teen ran projects which always leads to some dumb argument that ends the project and leaves the VA out of a gig.
