It sounds like you're really doing good things all around. I used to operate a 50ft camera crane through Panavision in Hollywood, but right now I'm a warehouse guy between getting my VO carreer going and getting my Class A Truck driving license(all while being out on injury) so I feel you. Awesome video as always. I had a similar struggle a while back. Pick the things that are right for you and your situation, you never know what other doors they may open. As for VO, you can mix it up because any practice is good practice. Read aloud, repeat back things you hear on TV, do tongue twisters, & auditions when you have time, etc. What works for your schedule & won’t lead to burn out is always a good option. Wishing you the best on your journey 😁

You had an interesting slant that a lot of the KZbin VO guys have not talked about: I'm just starting out; how do a balance a day job with trying to get started doing Fiverr (or any other VO site); especially if you don't work from (home). I'm not sure you had a solution, but at least you brought it up. I've really been wondering how to do that. How can I be responsive to clients that want a VO sample now, when I have to wait till I get off work to record it. 🤷‍♂
@DayOneVoiceover
@DayOneVoiceover 13 күн бұрын
You know, the thing with samples now (as I understand it), is that AI has changed the approach. I still don’t exactly get a lot of traction on Fiverr but when I do, and they ask for a sample, the first thing I do is point to my demo reels. That should have everything they need. But if they insist on more, I will record something and purposely not have it be clean audio. fiber is already a low budget marketplace, I don’t need people cloning my voice for free with a quick sample. So with that said, maybe you can simply record something on your phone in a semi-quiet space? The last few samples I’ve provided have resulted in zero feedback. They take the sample then disappear. So I stopped doing it.
