Nearly ready to pull the trigger on this mod so your video is perfect timing for me. Thank you! I assume that with the adjustments necessary on the back side of the wheel well an installation of OEM mud flaps is not really an option with 35's?

Is the tire spacer for looks, to keep the rim from maybe hitting the caliper, or to get it out far enough so it doesn't hit that unfinished aluminum vertical bar (sorry don't know what it's called) but I know the back of the my stock tire almost rubs it now.

The spacer can be used for many reasons. Keeping wider tires off the upper control arm is one of them.

After the trimming and everything, is there a solution for a wheel with an offset +44 and tire 35x12.5. Different size wheel spacer? or go down a size?

I really don't know how to answer that question. Every wheel and tire combination is going to fit the vehicle differently. At the beginning of the video, I show the consequences of pushing the tires out farther. The radius becomes greater, and more material needs to be removed. So, the short answer is: keep cutting until there's enough room.

Excellent mod with the 35s! Your new Octa coming I believe has the 35s, yes? . Still waiting. Im a caliper guy and still interested in the Octa color., Did you do a previous caliper color change as this has orange which looks great (would love to see that video if you did)! Are you still keeping this after the Octa, since this looks awesome with 35s.

The Octa comes with 33s. The truck in the video is a Trek 130, and it came with orange calipers. Unfortunately for me, that 130 is not mine; it belongs to a super cool client of ours who travels to many Rover events with his Trek 130 / on 35s

Now you need some gearing to get back some semblance of crawl ratio! Not all of us live on the east coast where wheel spin is actually considered a legitimate off-road driving style. Here in the west we believe in the crawl part of rock crawling!

Your comments-funny, I’ll give you that. On my last trips to the West Coast, including Moab, I never seemed to struggle for power in the 130 on 35s with the P400 motor. My V8 never hunts for more power. Perhaps with the P300, this is an issue.

@@Lucky8 It has little to do with power and everything to do with control. Heck, look at the wimpy little 22REs out there crawling like gods with what - 100 hp? But lots of gearing. My own D1 on 39s with a basically stock 4.6 crawls fine (OK, it could use more gear too which is coming soon enough) though it could use more power for things like Donner Pass. HP helps on the road; it helps in sand and mud; sometimes in heavy deep snow. In the rocks? That's all about gearing. One of the biggest problems with my LR3 was the lack of gear options - power again has nothing to do with it for west coast crawling.

because 35 is the new 32? Seriously, if you are asking that question why are you even watching? 35 and bigger is standard on many factory off-road packages these days. The real question is why didn't Rover fit at least a 35 on what is supposed to be their most off-road model?

@@tomthompson7400 Bigger tires go over bigger stuff better. Why didn't LR make them with factory 35s? That's a question for them, but they are softening the whole line for the masses. And some people still want to use them for what they are 'supposed' to be used for.

@@donhappel9566 Im watching out of wonderment ,,, the two things that tell you its a Richard driving a lr is a small steering wheel , and wheel spacers , the way to tell the lr in question is a pile of junk , its got chequer plate riveted to it ,, what do I know though ............... oh what do I do for a living , I fix lr products .

Cause Land Rover's market is now making 'cool' street cars for Celebrities and Soccer Moms at high dollar private schools. Yeah, they retain 'decent' off-road capability for what they are, but they are no longer designed with utility/off-road capability as a primary design goal.
