I've just watched your video about 45 minutes. ago. My trolley hydraulic jack has the same bottle as yours. It was leaking fluid at the base of the ¾ in bolt to which the up/down lever for the rod handle slides into. To make the story short I drained all the hydraulic fluid. I took out the pressure release valve and also the right screw(tiny BB) that you are not supposed to mess with(safety reasons/factory adjusted). I am glad you covered that in detail, I have to go back and tighten it and then back out 2¾ turns. The problem that I am having is with the pressure release valve will not screw all the way in. I dropped the BB as you did. Worse of all the jack is not doing anything-it won't go up. I will check and go back. I will post the results later. This video helped me a lot, thanks a bunch.

You went further than most. My jack would slowly drop and that small o ring was passing a little oil- easy fix 👍👍

Good thing I watched your vid, because I'd let the ball bearing fall out and didn't realize it. I went to hands and knees with a flashlight in the garage and found it! Now the jack works again. Thx!

I've been trying everything (before full rebuild) and this was the first to discuss those ball bearings and settings. I hope that's it, or it's minor grit or seal somewhere. That check valve discussion hopefully covered all I need. You seemed to struggle with that dumb rubber fill cap like I do. I wish that was a simple screw. I just checked the check valve and the spring and bearing are there, but I don't want to disassemble everything to clean out. Mine has a screw with o-ring that covers the screw for the spring and bearing - I tightened that screw and put the cover back and it stayed up for about 24 hours, but then lowered halfway.

Gee. I found the information useful but why wasn't the test of lifting the battery included in the video? Should I do all that if it's not going to fix my jack from dropping off overnight.

I think I accidentally swapped the ball bearings, putting the smaller one into the release value opening on the left. Now it seems to have jammed in there. Is the only way to get it out to open up the large plunger cap with the huge ~36mm hex nut to push it out from the inside? I was probably going to open it anyway to clean things out and see if the o-ring or seal needed replacement. Also, to make sure I have this right, there are 2 ball bearings, with the big one in the release value on the left and the small one in the adjust valve on the right, and the middle valve just gets the piston with no ball bearing, right?

My motorcycle lift drops really fast! It has 2 adjustment screws on top of the ram... not sure what each one does. Ihave removed and replaced the o-ring on the rod that controls the descent action - (that did not cure the problem). I checked for air locks and ran a whole lot of clean oil through the ram. I have not yet touched the screws on top of the ram. Not sure what each one does - might this be why the lift drops scarily fast (juddering if I stop lowering it....) - Thanks for the video , not many people have gone this far!

I have to ask, did you have any more problems after cleaning it out? I have basically the same type jack that won't pump up and I can't see any reason for it. All the seals seem good and I even flushed it out with mineral spirits and still not working. Problem is, it is such an old Sears 2 ton floor jack that they don't have a seal kit for it anymore...
@toomuchhair45533 жыл бұрын
I've got an old Sears that I bought in '75. It pumps up but bleeds off. I haven't decided if I'm going to rebuild it or not, but here is a rebuild kit for the old 2 ton Sears. www.amazon.com/dp/B01C7HWLEQ/?coliid=I2QSO8GEXKNW17&colid=3HXEDIDY0V52W&psc=1&ref_=lv_ov_lig_dp_it If you search eBay for that kit, that seller has a few useful pictures. Good Luck

I don't think this problem was solved. There is another valve at the bottom of the inside piston sleeve which was not able to be undone in this video and if rubbish gets in the way of this valve closing then the jack will sink under load.
@davidgao70483 жыл бұрын
You got a tiny ball out of release valve @ 14:29, and then you put a big one back to it at 19:30.
@timothymilam7323 жыл бұрын
he caught his mistake after dropping the larger ball bearing in, and even remembered the correct number of turns. Typically when a jack won't hold the load, are fails to pickup a load, it's the plunger, or lift ram seal inside the cylinder has worn out, and are been blown out by too much weight. The O-rings generally have more to do with leaks on the outside of hydraulic jacks, and even on hydraulic cylinders on tractors forklifts and so on. So I doubt he fixed his problem, especially since he stated he had no external oil leaks, and it was going down so much every hour or so.

@@luisbatista1103 the rebuild kit doesn't have a parts list where they itemize the contents of the kits they have. There's really too many variables for me to even consider answering your question, but I would think that either in a repair kit for your model, are maybe if someone else who has the same model might be able to answer that better than I can. Sorry I know its no help, but I just thought of something that might work for you. You still have the other bearing that was with one you misplaced. If so stop the video where you have clear picture of it, and then get a caliber, and measure it to get measurement on the video, and figure out the difference in the real one, and the picture. Then you have a formula to figure out what the size of the missing one by using the same percentage of difference between them as you did with other one, and that should get you reasonably close to the actual size. Best answer I've got for you I'm afraid, but it's either that, or do a ton of research unless someone like sears parts direct can answer your question themselves as they should have all the specs on the jack whether no longer available or not. Good luck

The dirty seal has nothing to do with it leaking down.That's a pump only. It's the release ball seal or the release spring is weak. No need to Ever mess with relief valve.
