Excellent video as always. I’d buy a new non-OEM, as I’ve had great luck with them. I recently had ongoing issues with a FS50 that would die after running great for several minutes. Replaced carb, fuel lines, coil, filters, spark plug and cleaned arrestor screen. None of this helped! The problem turned out to be my fuel cap. Wasn’t venting as the little pin hole was clogged. This condition vapor locked the engine. Very simple cheap easy fix. It’s embarrassing to admit this but worth it if it helps out someone.

Thanks Rob. I might go and check that now. I'm also wondering if my trigger is not working correctly as it tends to die when I fully press the trigger and then coughs it's way back to life when I release it. When I last used it I just left it running full tilt with the throttle trigger interlock still activated (the trigger you activate to start it). It also dies if I fully release the trigger suddenly.

I do everything you’ve told to do. Use 100% gas, don’t keep gas in the tank for long periods of time, new gas every year, put fuel treatment in your gas tank etc. My stihl always finds a reason not run. It has failed miserably. Had a Homelite for 14 years and never had trouble until the very end. No more stihl for me

I'd probably use the cheap replacement carb as an organ donor, to keep the original carb body. Deteriorated fuel lines have caused me more aggravation than all other problems combined, so they'd get changed out the minute I start having problems.

What is the carburetor adjustments L and H stand for? And how do we adjust it correctly? Thanks
@INSIDEHOUSEGARAGE3 жыл бұрын
unfortunately you have to adjust it using your ear by how the engine sounds and reacts, The L controls how much Fuel is delivered at low engine speeds, while the H is for wide open throttle. Sorry adjustments I do are not universal, they are specific for each engine. it wouldn't be the same for yours or the next piece of equipment.

I have 2 fs85's. One has a new carb, high compression. The other has had problems idling, now it has problems revving. No matter what I do, it sounds like this: *pinging clutch, idling* then it sounds like this *bog bog*. A new carb will take longer to arrive because of coronavirus. What causes this?

i have a FS38, bought it a month ago. Im only a newbie when it comes to line trimming but for some reason it always wants to cut out, loses power and cuts out when I turn the trimmer round to try to edge. I've watched heaps of videos watching people edge even with an FS38 and Im holding it the same way, the tank was three quarters full. What am I doing wrong or do you know why it would lose power/gas when I try to edge. Thanks
@INSIDEHOUSEGARAGE2 жыл бұрын
thanks for the question, Just to clarify, you're turning the trimmer on its right side, with the fuel cap upwards right? If so, try turning the other side, with the cap down towards the ground.

@INSIDEHOUSEGARAGE3 жыл бұрын
welcome to small engines, I think you'll have a great time here. There are two lines because the one you're aware of is the Fuel line, the other is a return line from the purge bulb.
