Excellent video! This fixed my problem. Your steps were very easy to follow, and they were spot-on. One suggestion: you might want to tell viewers to use Safari. You mention Safari during the video, but my default browser was Chrome, and I was not able to downloaded the OpenCore Configurator because it would nopt prompt me with the Mac security settings. This fix works perfectly, except I had to zap the PRAM after rebooting because my Mac Pro 5,1 lost all USB inputs when I first rebooted. It's great to have Bluetooth back again.

You described it right. It is the OCLP that hasn't been updated for this. I know it is free to use and they do a great job, but it is how many years this non-working? I guess most people with old Mac Pros have not upgraded their bluetooth wifi card, which is odd given it is one of the Top upgrades for this machine.

Hi Mac Sound Solutions thanks for all your videos and tutorials, not sure if you have time to help, I posted this on another channel that also helps in upgrading old mac pros. I use this Mac Pro for music composition and production so your channel is a real big help to me. I have a Mac pro 5,1 with Big Sur currently installed I also have a Rx 580 GPU Today I installed a WiFi bluetooth card 4.0 into my mac 5,1 it was difficult to install so small the wires. I used your installing Bluetooth video into mac pro 5,1 it helped a lot. For some reason one of my bluetooth wires were not connected but using your guide it helped me put all the wires in correctly thanks. After installing the card I booted up and the 1st time it hanged on the boot up screen so I turned it off I don't know why this happened. So I tried a 2nd time and turned on the mac pro 5,1 this time it reached Big-sur and I logged in using my password but it hanged after I put the password in. Honestly was about to give up tried 3rd time, this time the mac OSX at boot up said there was a problem with my mac settings or hardware, I can't remember what it was but it said do I still want to log in. I said yes and it seemed to work after that. bluetooth and Wifi is working in Big-Sur but some of my hard drives PCIE hard drives a 512GB SSD dive and a 256GB NVME drive are not showing up, I am not sure why I am getting all these problems now though. I have installed and updated my OpenCore Legacy Patcher 2.0.2 from here github.com/dortania/Opencore-Legacy-Patcher/releases I installed open core to my boot disk which is the USB drive 32Gb drive and rebooted I am now downloading Mac OSX 12.7.6 Monterey on to my USB drive 32Gb that has my EFI partition and also has Big Sur Install on. After downloading Monterey to my USB drive it said do I want to wipe the current USB drive that has Big Sur on it, I said no. Can I delete Big Sur that is on the USB drive? do I need to down load it again? The Monterey I downloaded appears in my Applications folder in Big Sur, so what do I do to update to new OSX Monterey but keep all my files? all my Big Sur files and music programs are in Drive Bay 2 using a 1TB drive can you help please my next step. Do I move the Monterey OSX to my USB drive? Honestly don't know what to do. I really would not like to wipe my drive. I think with the new Bluetooth and Wifi card 4.0 installed I don’t think I should be getting any Wifi or Bluetooth problems in Monterey or Venture, using OpenCore if this new card I installed is working in Big Sur. Question- Is there any problems I should look out for in Monetary or Venture? I am really thinking about going to Venture OSX what do you think, is that currently okay on a 5,1 using OpenCore hopefully the new 4.0 Bluetooth card will help. You should let OCLP app build the bootable installer on the USB thumb drive, it will reformat it, then rebuild opencore onto it. Then restart and hold the option key to rebless the thumb drive so opencore is on it. The Mac OS installer first downloads to your application folder then it gets copied to the thumb drive and OCLP puts its patches in and updates the system drive. Installing the OS onto your internal SSD will not erase the drive only the OS will be replaced/ updated. If you have OCLP already on your internal drive you can just run the OS installer from the application folder and it will install the OS but you will then have to install the post patches and the KDK package for your graphics etc the OCLP app will talk you through it. either way it will not erase your data, only reformatting your hard drive will do that. Regardless you should always have a backup of your data before doing a major update. Not sure why your other drives are not working but I would try updating and see how that goes.

@@MacSoundSolutions Thanks for everything, I don't know what it is now but my WiFi does not seem to work anymore in BigSur. it worked a few times then stopped, I have no idea why it is like this. WiFi just does not seem to pick up anything its blank. The only way I am using the internet right now is through Bluetooth. Post-Install Root Patch from OpenCore says no patches required, "start root patches" is darkened out or gives option "revert root patches", I don't know which to choose to now fix my WiFi. I have to rebless the thumb drive using option key okay will try and a pram reset will try that. Also My 2 PCIE drives they have my Orchestral samples and are still not showing up this is kind of a mess installing a newer bluetooth card I thought it would be a simple process. Also I have windows 10 in drive bay 1 that I use in this mac and that don't show any WiFi or Bluetooth anymore either. I'll do what say and build and install OpenCore on the Thumb drive I have most of my files backed-up, I backed up the project I have been working on, on an external hard drive and some other files, I just don't have a spare drive to put a fresh OSX install in. I'll update let you know what is going I really doubt any of this is going to get fixed though

As having WiFi and My PCIE drive problems stopped me from doing that but I do have an update regarding some of these problems. Also I still have not reblessed the drives or done a PRAM reset yet 1-The 2 PCIE hard drives I use, they did show up as external drives in Big-Sur on the desktop as yellow drives but now they don't show up but the PCIE drives do show up in FINDER under locations so they are there they just don't show up on desktop, I am not sure why that is, maybe because I moved them down in the PCIE slots from 4 and 3, to slot 3 and 2 to make space. for the WiFi wire and bracket, still not sure though why this changed. I can make the drives show up on desktop If I go to preferences/general/ and select "show these items on the desk top" select "hard disks" I can show these drives on the desktop it was different before but its okay now. 2- The WiFi, the WiFi seems to be working now, I am realising that the WiFi card with wire I installed does not have a far reach at all and the personal internet hotspot/phone needs to be extremely close to MacPro other wise the signal won't reach. So I moved the hotspot closer to the MacPro and it seems to be okay for now. 3-For Windows 10 64bit, the windows 10 not having WiFi, I downloaded Bluetooth and WiFi drivers for the card from here I believe blog.os-store.com/broadcom-bcm4360-bcm94360cd-bcm94360cs-wifi-wireless-wlan-bluetooth-card-drivers-and-software-download/ my card was an Apple Broadcom BCM94360CD With Bluetooth 4.0 The Wifi now in widows seems to work but he range of my WiFi in windows 10 is the same in Mac OSX in that the hotspot has to be very close to MacPro otherwise it loses connection to WiFi. Now all this might mess up next time I turn on the computer I just never know with my stuff. Now that these things seem to be okay in Big-Sur, I think I might try Monterey OSX now, I will do what you say and rebuild the Thumb drive with Monterey rebless see how that goes.

Thanks for your tutorials, I'm running a Mac Pro (2010) with Monterey. All's fine except B/tooth. Happily followed your advice with Configurator 2 but no Kernel line for 'B/tooth spoof' to delete. I had installed upgrade Fenvi FV-T919 card, wi fi fine but still no B/tooth, original Mac Pro B/tooth card not removed - could it be a clash of the b/tooth's? Bob, it always feels weird to remove an upgraded PCIe card, so I'd just pull the connector on the old Bluetooth card and try again, it's not too hard to remove. I imagine the Fenvi has BT 5.0 and better WIFI than the old Broadcom 2010 onboard. But, FWIW, I'm still using the original WIFI and Bluetooth and it's okay. Good luck!

I have a Mac Pro 5,1, Sequoia 15.2, OCLP 2.2.0 and have had problems with BT. I bought the osxwifi BT 4.0 kit, and installed it properly. I followed your BT fix with edits to the .kext files as outlined. Rebooted and I do not have WiFi or BT. I have other drives on this machine and booted into Monterey on a different internal drive. Everything works there, BT and Wifi. What am I doing wrong? I revoked root patches, booted, added them, re-edited the .kext file, booted to no avail. Lance I do not have that kernel and I have bluetooth because my ear pods work but my apple bluetooth keyboard shows up but does not connect. I have the wifi/bluetooth upgrade. Can I download and install the Kernel to fix this?

not sure what you mean exactly. Can you turn bluetooth on in system prefs or does it just switch itself off when you do? My mouse worked even though BT was off in system prefs but only basic functions. If you mean can you install the KEXT file? I had a time when it did not show up so I re did the root patches and then it showed up in Opencore configurator.

I had to install without signing into iCloud during the install then Safari and wifi worked, then signed in to iCloud and things kept working. Did you replace the internal wifi Bluetooth card? I have a Mac Pro 2009, 12 core, 128gb ram. Was working well (both wifi and Bluetooth) with Monterey but after installing Sonoma on a fresh drive and root patching etc I have 2 issues. One is the WiFi is greyed out and can’t be pressed. I don’t actually use this so not a big issue. The Bluetooth though is doing exactly what you describe here…on for a few seconds then off. If I take the tick off the one you said it had no effect. If I did both that one and the Monterey fix one it stays on but doesn’t connect to any devices. If you have any suggestions it would be appreciated as I can’t live with a wired mouse and keyboard haha. I will leave a like now as everyone should as you are just helping people out. With so many models not everything works for everyone. Appreciate any tips you might be able to offer.

I even tried a few older versions of OCLP to see if those root patches would make a difference, seeing as I had Monterey working without issue. I think it's the default bluetooth device but I bought it pre-upgraded so I would have to confirm that. I will have a look tomorrow in the system information and see what it says. iphone mirroring requires different hardware and has nothing to do with this, will never work on mac pro 5.1 (unless a phenonemon by Opencore team) - this fix depends on which Broadcomm card you put in your machine. By default macOS cannot handle 32GB RAM modules. How can I fix the config file and thus enable support for 32GB RAM modules? Windows works fine on MP 5.1 with 8 RAM modules of 32GB each, with a total of 256GB RAM detected by Windows with no problems, and this is a great configuration for running 3D software.

in my Macpro 5,1 Sequoia is the opposite wifi is off. the card not even recognized. In system report no wifi interface. in System settings/Network can't add wifi Service . And I already ran the Modern wireless Patches. I have the same wifi card that yours a Apple Broadcom BCM94360 chip Upgrade Kit, also tried the BT 4.2 BCM943602CDP same results wifi is off card don't recognized but BT works.. Now I have Ventura also in same SSD same Machine and If I boot to Ventura everything works Open core Won't even use patches. The card was natively recognized so is not the card or machine nor a ketx Kernel problem cuz in your video wifi is working!! I thought Opencore configurator was only use for hackintosh. looking for a solution found your video. Weird ahh, Well wait If I connect the old legacy card back OCLP don't use Modern wireless Patches but Legacy Patches and wiffi works but not BT nor airdrop cuz this old card don't supported it. Hi Lance. Thanks for all your great work. You've helped me in the past to keep my old 5,1 running with OCLP. I've updated from Sonoma to Sequoia, and all seems well expect for the exact same bluetooth issue you're addressing in this video. I used your video from 3 years ago kzbin.info/www/bejne/hoXXgJ9nYs6Ubsk to update the bluetooth card, so I'm pretty sure I have the same scenario as you with an internal updated BT card connected to the motherboard via an adapter. It worked fine in Mojave and Sonoma, but not in Sequoia. I've followed your instructions here with Open Core Configurator, but it didn't fix the BT. I've tried doing a brand new clean install of Sequoia, and then following the same instructions here, but no success. I've tried resetting SMC and PRAM/NVRAM multiple times. No success. I'm about to downgrade to Sonoma, but before I do I thought I might see if you or anyone else had any suggestions. One observations that might be relevant: when booted to Sequoia, system report lists the BT controller chipset as BCM_4350C2. The USB device tree doesn't show bluetooth (it's also missing a USB microphone). When I boot to Mojave (native support, so no OCLP EFI) The USB device tree shows the bluetooth USB host controller and Bluetooth lists the controller Chipset as 20703A1. So, the kext does seem to be spoofing the BT card, but the process you outline in here doesn't fix the issue. But since the USB device tree doesn't list the BT controller, I'm wondering if there is an issue with the USB mapping?

@@user-bx3rt2ox4f if it worked before the. Sounds like a driver issue, did you try my Mac Pro 7,1 bootcamp drivers? Check my windows drivers video for the link to my Dropbox, maybe you can inject the correct driver… but I’m not sure how to do that in Mac OS. Have you updated OCLP and tried uninstalling and te installing post patches then try the OC config again? Each card variant can be a different driver, you could also try spoofing the computer to a 7,1 Uncle and see if that gets it working

@@MacSoundSolutions Thanks again. I found those drivers you mentioned, but I have no idea what to do with them to install them. I've tried reverting the patches (rebooting), then reinstalling the patches (then rebooting) then doing an SMC reset and a PRAM/NVRAM reset, then redoing the OC Configurator thing to deselect that BT Spoof kext. No success.

@@user-bx3rt2ox4f If it works in Mojave and Sonoma it must be a driver issue with Sequoias, maybe try selecting iMac Pro as the computer where you can select a specific computer instead of Opencore selecting the model and rebuild OCLP worth a shot. Also maybe completely delete Opencore from the EFI and reinstall it to be iMac Pro

@@MacSoundSolutions I'll give that a shot. But how do I delete the EFI and start over? I was under the impression that it can't be deleted. And which iMac Pro should I pick when I change it from the default Host Model under the Build tab?

@@user-bx3rt2ox4f you can try this on a thumb drive and not delete the efi, just bless the thumb drive so opencore loads that EFI instead of the internal EFI. Just to try it out its a guess at this point if it would work.

Thanks for the video, good to know. Is this also the right tool to get the webcam working? I only get a black screen. I run Sequoia, that was the first install that came out working perfectly without modifications. Ventura had graphicals issues, Senoma was stuck in bootloop during installation. Beside the external webcam everything else seems to work just fine. I don'tr know if this is important: because none of the tutorials and guidelines worked I did the install without updating the bootrom. Still on MP51.0089.B00. I just couldn't get it to work so I gave it a try and OCLP just did its magic.

BTW: NVME works fine. I just had to put Opencore on a regular SSD and it redirects immediately to the NVME. Technically not booting from the NVME but works. Was to scared to mess with the bootrom and maybe brick my Mac. Used the same trick to get my HP Z800 to boot from an NVME (hasn't NVME boot support at all). Installed two Linux Mints and told the one on the regular SSD via Grub to take the NVME first.

@@raver-um3iu you can have OCLP on a ssd or NVMe and the system or systems on the NVMe. Not sure about the webcam have not tried it. Depends on the webcam and may need an updated driver.

@@MacSoundSolutions Thanks for the quick reply. I tried a Razer Kiyo, a Razer Kiyo Pro and a cheap noname one. I will continue my research then. Not a big problem, don't need a webcam regularly.

Hi, just to give you an update on my progress, I tried getting back from Sequoia to Sonoma. When I figured out that I overlooked the fact that the latest Sonoma installer is buggy I tried my luck with the previous version 14.6.1. That worked for me, Webcams are running now.
