I tried this product. And it seems to be working. It does need to be textured or skimmed to blend though

I tried this product over flat paint on a ceiling crack. It seemed to fix the problem but after about 3 months the adhesive on the tape failed and it started to delaminate from the drywall. I had to remove it and went back to perforated drywall tape and mud to fix the problem. After 7 months the crack hasn't returned.

It's covering the repair tape with a very thin smooth layer of filler/mud to conceal it.
