Folks, Ron is the real deal and we loved working with him to transform my son's swing in this video. His passion for the game is contagious.

My son does this. What's the best drill to get em using his top hand? I saw you you posted a short clip at the beginning. As that all you did?

If I could suggest, I would get a camera with a better frame rate. Lots of blur on the right side video. But thanks for posting!

It's funny you say that, for me the low frame rate emphasized how long the bat was in the zone.

Ron, I have a son that has the front arm issue. On T work, front toss, BP he does the swing correctly, he keeps the front arm bent and brings d hands across the chest as he turns the barrel and gets on plane early and squares d ball. On games as he loads he locks d front arm barring out and brings d hands inside but hands get down lower and ends up piping, fouling or swing and miss. Although he has been able to hit in d past, now in high school he is struggling. I’ve done a tone of bat on shoulder swing and hitting corks. He does it perfect, yet on games he gets back to the longer swing and bat comes off the shoulder. Do you have a drill or drills or amount of reps needed to get rid of this horrible habit? Thanks. I could email some videos if you give me an email address. Thanks

My Dom has this issue and when he gets to the ball he doesn’t extend through it. He just uses hip to shoulder separation for any amount of energy. Any drills to get him to extend through the ball? The moment I say not to connect his elbow to his hip his top arm drags again. Is it as simple as saying top hand gets behind the ball??

Hey Ron, have a question for you. What do you think about the swing rail
@RonSullivanHitting5 жыл бұрын
I'm a fan of anything that promotes teaching young players a shorter move to the ball. Can't speak for the product as I don't have one but it seems to promote the right feeling. Everyone learns different, but I would rather players learn without having to attach foreign objects to their body :) Thanks for the question

True you used the word pop my father was a hard hitting minor leaguer in the 50s ok got a number of records in California League players agreed he should have been in bigs ok after playing he worked for Giants and was called upon working with hitters he was a top hand hitter worked for Giants 23 yrs one winter meeting all the scouts were there all ex players they had a lot of respect for my father he was talking about everything you just described at that moment Frank Robinson walked by and said that's right if you can't do that you can't hit. Now some guys such as George Brett pull through Albert Puolis says he is but notice usually right hand thrower left hand hitter or extra big guy such as Mark Macquire or Puolis those big guys like that extra strong and it seems like they don't coordinate their legs with swing as good as some outstanding hitters 5'9 to 6'1 such as that of course always exceptions Mark mcquire is interesting to me his legs don't seem all that coordinated in baseball swing but what a golf swing

I’d say most really young kids (4-9 years old) do this out of utility ... but I wonder just what percentage would you say of young players transition into doing this past 9 years old, and up into their peak youth years? Because it does concern me...

Yes, this is the most natural movement when you pick up a bat for the first time. I think the exaggerated movements of drag don't stand out as much past 12 (for most players) but the fundamental problem for most players beyond 12 is they never learned what it means to get inside the ball. So drag is the extreme anti-inside move, and teens may visually show improvements but still lack the feeling that will allow them to make adjustments and perhaps maximize their power potential.

@@brianpolakowski7227 This is probably not fair. Looking at the email you sent...Subject line "Swing Evaluation" no content in the email only a video. I receive video from people all the time, they take the time to give some background and things they see in the game and practice. So, "this guy will never respond to you" is not fair.

ron sullivan Effect a mans business? Pffft! You have a lot of nerve saying that. As far as I’m concerned, you impacted my sons development negatively by not responding to your so called “21 day challenge” email which I was very interested in at the time. Let’s call a spade a spade. No biggie...we moved on, and you’re not the only gig in town. I was just appalled when your “off season video” showed up in my notifications because now you have the time.

Helo Tech, you two guys just don’t get it! Ron mentioned to send in swing video to his mentioned email address. He did not give any instructions what to say or what to do...just send in video. He had my email address to reply, regardless of any description, or lack there of, but he did not respond. After a couple of weeks, we moved on to plan B. Hey, I did what I was told and instructed by Ron. Now...you’re both delusional and have the audacity to think I’m in the wrong on this one. All Ron had to do was reply saying he needed information and I would have responded right away. Period! But, he chose not to.
