@jdjeep98 Жыл бұрын
If I remember, there's a bolt at the bottom of that cover you need to take out (10mm?) in order to remove the cover completely. There are also two versions of that filter screen. One mounts on the outside of the trim cover and one, like yours, is on the inside. I recommend getting one that snaps onto the outside of the vent so you don't have to do all that. All you would have to do would be to unsnap the screen and clean it.

So I drove my car over 60 miles today and the error still didn’t clear. I saw in another video to just disconnect one of the leads of the battery. I did that. and let it sit for five minutes. I hooked the battery back up and the error message cleared. 0$ fix instead of hundreds of dollars if not more.

If you screw your gas cap on wrong, and it creates an error, it takes two days for that to clear as well. Just FYI. I did this once, went to the dealer and they told me to remove it and put it back on correctly and just wait 2 days. It went away. It was a 2015 Prius C.

Well, there is a 10mm bolt at the bottom right corner of the trim. You almost broke yours. The filter comes out for cleaning. The way you did it, you pushed some of the dust in to the air canal. But, still. Good video. A lot of people are not aware of the filter maintenance.
@technologistonthego23775 ай бұрын
@@KasraOskuie I’ll take a look at the 10 mm bolt. That’s said, no one ever mentioned this filter maintenance to me. I simply got blindsided with this message.

@@technologistonthego2377 Oh bother. I hope I didn't offend you. Same thing happened to me too. Except it cost me $850 to clean the filter, the fan and changed the inverter and water coolant pumps. A lot of people are oblivious to it. Nobody tells them when they purchase a Prius. The bolt is under and between the trim and the seat. You almost broke the bracket where the bolt goes through. Also, you don't want to get more dust inside of the canal. You may want to watch a few videos and clean your canal and the fan as well. I figured since a lot of people are watching your videos, we get the correct info to them. Nothing personal. I enjoyed watching it. You seem like a very nice kind man yourself. I have two Priuses myself and after paying that $850, I found out how easy it is to do some of these maintenance myself. I just replaced my coolant pump to the engine, Thermostat, Cooler pump to the inverter and electronics, PCV valve, EGR valve, Coolant temperature sensor, and cleaned my air intake manifold and cleaned my EGR cooler. At all cost me lest than $400 including some tools I needed. It took me about 7 days since I work and Hot weather. But, saved thousands. It's rather simple. Anyways, forgive me if I offended you in anyway. God bless

Your point is good. It should be a regular habit that, when vacuuming the car, run it over that filter to keep it clear in a spirit of the "ounce of prevention is worth more than a pound of cure" type thing.

A filter like this should be easily accessed to be cleaned. This is another one of those stupid gimmicks that the car manufacturers use to get you to go back to the car dealer. I'm not saying the filter doesn't need to be cleaned it obviously does, but it should be easily accessed by the consumer. What will they be doing next hiding the engine air filter behind a bunch of panels so that the consumer can't change it too?
@technologistonthego23772 ай бұрын
I feel the exact same way about the head gasket. It’s a flimsy $40 piece of plastic. There ought to be a way to replace that without incurring such expensive labor and parts. You would think there would be a way to notify the person it needs replacement much like they do with the oil change, coolant level, etc.

Rather than express an opinion based in zero experience, it may be time to see the dealer. My concern is that hair and other things have clogged the vent.

@technologistonthego2377 Жыл бұрын
That is definitely worrisome as this error is caused by the vent getting clogged. If your Prius has no filter, but generated this error, the clog is further inside. I wonder if a vacuum with a narrow flex hose might be able to pull up whatever is clogging up the vent. However, this may be a job for the dealership.
