I have a fly sky x6b that smoked on me and I'm not sure if it's the regulator or not. The chip I know for sure is burnt. It's a 6 leg chip on the bottom of the board commonly covered partially by white paste/glue. Best guess is a switching regulator? Thanks in advance!

Very informative sir! btw...what causes the regulator to broke? In my case, I just re-arranged my Power connections from UART 3 to UART2 (together with Smartport config) and it poofs within 2 minutes...

Hey JC nice job, continue to do great content that's awesome what you do ;) I've got a question: i accidentally pluged the 10V from the pdb in the 5V output of the vtx (not a FrSky, a cheap FT48X but still it could be 20€ saved), it flew 20s and snow and no more signal. Since then it does not turn on, no leds, do you think there any chance this fix could revive it ? Otherwise if you know what could the problem be and if it can be fixed ? (I don't need the 5V output maybe bypasing it if it the source of the problem) Thank you
@bigrussfpvhell08 жыл бұрын
Yea the receiver connects and binds but doesent have any signal coming out? you should fix cameras and all that stuff that a component blows out on. I have a cam that will work and I can see my name on top but it doesent have video. and also should do blown vtx. this would save me a lot of money. also blown escs is an option as well. you could do so much with that hot air rework piece

I do have some video planned like that. Just waiting for the parts to come in. I get most my stuff off of ebay. A lot cheaper but it all comes from China so it takes forever. Placed an order two weeks ago and still waiting. I ordered what I think is the correct 3.3v regulator for these receivers but I want to test it out first before saying.

Crazy. Sure enough my regulator is fried. I plugged the Rx into an unpowered board, which would normally power the RX. That board is 36v and supplies a 5v regulated output. In this case, I powered the Rx externally at 5.2v. This is because I had forgotten if I powered the Rx from that other board, or if I powered it externally. Either way, hooking up the signal,5v,gnd from one of the channels to the unpowered board, fried the 3.3v voltage regulator. Makes me sad. Thanks for the video, I couldn't find the regulator info (162t was printed on mine), but assumed it must be 3.3v. I'll replace it now that I've verified it's dead. With this failure scenario, I'm guessing if I ever DO power the Rx separately, then I'll only connect the gnd's and signals to other things, besides servo's or whatever the Rx is powering :/ I still think it's kinda weird. Cause depending, if I'm using a big bec, I'm going to be a little paranoid attempting to power everything from it with this Rx. This is what I get for working with a weird setup I guess :)

Do I still power it from the same 5v pad on the fc

im in the same boat with an X4R-SB. got it brand new and have signal drop out at about 100' away. obviously I replaced it and the new one is good but I still have the old one laying around and would love to be able to fix it. Tonight ill check and see if the regulator is actually putting out 3.3 volts. but otherwise don't know what else could be the issue Project Blue Falcon, have you come across a receiver with poor signal issue and have any suggestions?

3rD_Coast FPV There is a firmware update for this problems on frsky site. Although my reciever died half way through flashing, unfortunately it isn't the 3.3v regulator.
