(i.e When I uninstalled the audio manager I could hear audio from headphones but when I reinstalled the manager first of all I couldn't hear audio from headphones and secondly the headphones weren't even appearing in the playback device list. I have no idea..

If you are using a hyper x product make sure your mic is fully plugged in and non of the grey part is showing If your headsets are recognized as speaker and the mic is not working go to hyperx frequently asked questions and you will get a fix quickly. You can also go to realtek audio manger and make sure “make front and rear output devices playback 2 different steams simultaneously “ is turned on and choose the second mic

make sure you have the headphone wore in the headphone jack and the mic wire in the mic in jack cuz that is something tht people get mixed up some of the time. also, try plugging in the headphones in the back of the computer (in the motherboard ) and if that worked then you either dont have you hd audio connected correctly or you dont have the audio drivers. the hd audio is very common also

Same, it was so confounding that I actually ordered another microphone because I thought my Audio-Technica 2500 was broken somehow. It would have been really nice of Microsoft to notify users about the microphone control switch being moved to Privacy Settings better. Simple, I must have turned "use mic in apps off". Turning that "on" fixed it for me. Just search "privacy setting" in cortana. Issue solved if Discord isn't picking up your headset mic.

I woke up at ~11pm and I see there is a Windows10 Forced update. Ah bloody hell I'll let it update it while I sleep. In ~9 hours I wake up and in a few games I noticed when I tried to use my microphone it wouldn't work. I watched this guide, Privacy>allow apps to use Mic (ON)>disable all the following apps below. BOOM it works. Now, before the microphone issue after the update I had to reinstall a Logitech driver because the update caused the keyboard light not to work. The weird part is that on the Microphone Privacy thing, before the update I am confident to say that I had the "allow apps to use microphone" set to off. I wish i could go back to Windows 7. : '( This Guide helped and thank you very much. It's a very simple, thorough but understandable video that doesn't add a bunch of rubbish. :)

if you have an xbox controller you can connect a usb into your computer and your controller and plug in your mic in the earphone jack under the controller and that should fix the problem

MS is pretty screwy. Off topic, when they updated Minecraft to 13.x (bedrock), it broke all the skins. In a similar fashion, they updated the audio stacks and they are completely unrecognizable. All sound card manufacturers had to redo everything. In the past 3 updates of Win10 (latest being 1909) they have been redoing the audio stacks each update and it KILLS all driver support. Bluetooth lags, microphones break, very seldom speakers will pop and crackle. Realtek releasd their spec to every manufacturer, and if your board's brand doesn't update the driver, you're out of luck forever I'm afraid... I have aorus gaming 7 z370, last update was in 2018. Until Gigabyte releases a new driver, I'll be out of luck in that department. I know they won't be updating. Works perfectly fine in Win7 and FreeBSD.

If you’re using a 3 prong single 3.5 audio jack set of headphones, then the pc won’t recognize both cables. An easy fix is to plug in a ps4 or Xbox controller, then plug in the headset to that. Another way is to buy an audio splitter 3.5 3 prong female to 2x 3.5 2 prong male cable. I’ll make a video on it, I promise this works for literally anyone that didn’t get it fixed by this video, go check it out when it’s up 👍.

So I was encountering the same issue, and I stumbled across a solution which worked for me (Windows 10): 1. Open the app/game where you aren't experiencing any mic output 2. Hit the Window logo key; search Settings > Sound. 3. Under 'Advanced sound options' select 'App volume device preferences' 4. For the app where you're experiencing issues, change the input from 'Default' to your microphone of choice. Make sure that the app which you wish to make changes to is currently running in the background, otherwise it won't appear in this settings menu.

If you are still having trouble with the front mic audio do this... 1) Go to Realtek website 2) Under 'downloads' click AC'97 Audio Codecs (Software) 3) You will see that there are no downloads for Windows 10, but that's okay. The Win7/vista will be compatible, so click this first option 4) After it is done downloading open the file (you will have to open '6305_Vista_PG537' folder to see the rest of files) 5) You will see an item named 'setup' application, click this 6) The application will download the needed components 7) Now your mic should be working. You can test this by using the voice recorder app Hope this helps!

For those still suffering from your mic not being recognized but the sound is working, just uninstall realtek audio if you have it on your pc. For whatever reason, realtek is the one causing your mic to be faulty so just uninstall it and everything should work fine now. P.S. It worked for me. Hope this helps y’all.

If your microphone says currently unavailable and does not work at all even when plugged in. What you need to do is go to windows privacy settings>Microphone then toggle on Allow Apps to access microphone to fix this issue. Windows release an update May 3rd I believe of this year that messed everything up.

My mic records but in a video game I"m playing noone can hear me speak. Which App needs to be "On" in the Privacy section to allow your mic to broadcast in-game. This is a USB headset/mic if that matters. I've been told I may have to forward ports for the online gaming to work. Great video! very thorough.

i dont think my problem is related with this but my microphone isnt working i talk into it no sound but if i use the microphone lets say in game people hear only static and when i move the jack around it makes also static sounds only louder i cant seem to fix it please help Edit: Ive realised the microphone records computer sounds so videos and alerts on the pc are recorded but my voice isnt any ideas?

So I followed this guide partially, and at 2:59 where it says "Playback through this device" I put the selection to what he has on the screen to "default playback device" and windows started picking up my mic. Originally what was driving my nuts was, I thought in that selection box, you choose your actual device title....So for those who can't fix their mic still, you can try that and have the best of luck. Also thank you Britec, tbh if I didn't find your guide that lowkey pointed out that box I woudn't have fixed my audio issue. xD

This issue mess me up about 4days now, and i can't fix it. i can't talk with my in game friends, When i turn on "Allow apps to access your microphone" and it f**king works, boii i almost mess up my laptop just by this tiny problems.
