Thanks for the video! I thought my Corsairs finally kicked the bucket, so I bought a boom mic so I could use my Sony 1000xm3's. Still no audio! Following your steps though I was able to see my headset was set to hands free AND audio. Disabled the hands free in playback, and boom, it works!

Lol I had discord and when my friends where talking all MY VOLUME WAS muted! ( except my friends talking on the mic ) so this happen when I was playing base raiders, and so if you got that problem, well just go to your discord settings, Go to Voice & Video, Scroll down until you see ATTENUATION, Turn it 0% , And voila your done and that is how I fixed my sounds :D

@EronTheGamerGuy 1. go to control panel 2. search and click on manage audio devices 3. go to recording and click on your desired microphone 4. click properties 5. click levels and make sure the button on the right of the volume isn't making your mic muted. Hope this helps

Thank you! This wasn't it, but it got me really close. I have a Dell Laptop. In the sound tab in the control panel, rather than playback I selected "Recording." The internal microphone, "Microphone Array," in the "Levels" tab had somehow become muted. PITA but got it fixed!

When you're in the Sound settings, you select Recording to get to your microphone settings. I don't know why he keeps calling the speakers a microphone, it says Speakers. Speaker properties do not affect the Microphone settings. It would only take a few minutes to create another video that was actually correct, or simply remove this one, but I guess views are more important.

Unfortunately; this method does not work for some of us. My microphone would work in voice recorder but not with MS camera program. Kept getting "enable mic in privacy ..." even though it was enabled and still wouldn't work. Finally found something that worked for me of which absolutely no one had the answer. Everyone just said the same thing here about enabling privacy settings (which didn't work). All I did was install Skype, tested it out, closed it down and opened up MS Camera and now the mic works in camera.

If you're also someone who's facing this same problem, please don't panic. I bought my Lenovo IdeaPad 3 14ITL6 yesterday and it was only until today i wanted to send a voice note to find a message popping up saying to connect to a microphone. I was puzzled because which laptop doesn't already have a built in microphone? Anyway, I just updated it to the final version of windows and now the microphone is working just fine. So the problem wasn't the hardware or anything. It was a software issue. Thankfully.
