Sometimes on many brands that dreaded train track sound is actually a flat spot in the front rim of the dryer drum. Its caused by someone dropping the machine and putting a flat spot on the drum. Pull out the drum and check for a flat spot. Push out the flat spot with your thumbs till it's round. Very common on Fisher and Paykel, Hoover Electrolux and Simpson dryers.

That's not a bearing, it's a brass bush. Bearings have balls or rollers in them. That is a brass bush and they are self lubricating. Never apply lubricant.
