I don't know why CZ only pillar bedded the rear action screw. If anyone wants to add a pillar to the front I found this tube works as a charm: McMaster-Carr, 89895K617, Smooth-Bore Seamless 304 Stainless Steel Tubing 9/32" OD, 0.028" Wall Thickness You just need to cut a piece and slowly grind it to the proper length. Also to torque the action, I would suggest replacing the factory action screw using J&P Custom Products' hex-head ones. CZ uses M5 screws but the common ones we could find in McMaster-Carr are with 8.5mm or 9mm dia head. CZ's are 8mm and the head is only 3mm thick. So you have to get customized ones.

That extractor is tough to get in for sure and that for me took the most time. All your tips did make a big difference in making this work better. Seems like the cz bolt tolerance guy fell asleep on the job. My other bolt action rifles have very tight tolerances which helps the bolt to glide effortlessly with just a small film of oil. The cz rifle could be so much better with that one little tweak, that being said it's still fun to shoot.

Ive had 4 CZs, always amazing, however, I had accepted that this level of play, or the not 100 % perfect tolerance level, as part and parcel of CZ. It never bothered me really, but because ive seen this video it reawakened what id already known, and im definitely going to try it out. Currentoy i have a 550 .30-06 and a 455 .22LR. Both 9fvthem will definitely benefit from this little tweak

Same problem with my CZ527. I love some of today's firearms. You have to play amateur gunsmith to get a brand new gun to work the way it is supposed to. On the off chance that CZ reads this, I 'd be willing to pay more if necessary for you to actually finish the gun completely before it leaves the factory. Beware when people say, "it's a good gun for the money."

My CZ527 7.62x39 carbine bound at first. I didn't modify the extractor. I DID apply a little bit of "bore paste" (very fine abrasive in heavy grease, sometimes used on new rifle barrels to smooth/de burr bores or clean stubborn deposits from used barrels) on all the bolt surfaces which showed a wear pattern from cycling, then cycled the bolt a couple of hundred times. I was very careful to keep any of this bore paste OUT of the trigger mechanism- I ran the rifle upside down and did NOT pull the trigger while working bolt. Then I VERY thoroughly cleaned any bore paste from bolt and bolt way/lug engagement surfaces & re oiled. I cleaned up and smoothed magazine feed lips. Didn't do anything to magazine spring, just cleaned, oiled & reinstalled. No more binding issues. I've got a new CZ527 .223 synthetic stocked "American", the version with a 3 round magazine and the magazine well extension reduced to give a flush fitting magazine. It is a jam-o-matic out of the box, going to look at the extractor & probably do some work on bolt & feed lips as above.

Then bought 527 in .223 the bolt a bit sloppy and binding too, I did your procedure it did helped with the slap, but it feels as binding got worse. I may going to take it to gunsmith to take care of it, rifle is 18 years old. My 7.62x39 bolt smooth as butter just like on CZ Bren. Also got a couple of tactical bolt handles from Glades armory to clear my scope, it worked great on .223, but won't go into 7.62x39 bolt.

I also experienced some binding on a new 7.62x39 and looked for a solution. I do not like bending an extractor of the Mauser type because it will also increase the grip on the case. But I found the problem: it is the EJECTOR! Yes, that metal sheet piece pressed by a spring (too strong in my opinion) in a channel in the bolt. The bolt face (where the case rests had a VERY sharp edge where the cut meets it. That edge creates the binding when the bolt is to the rear and you start pushing it (visible if you look through the ejection port). Pushing the bolt (or jiggling) changes the angle the back of the ejector meets the sharp edge. I used a diamond file (w width of the cut) and rounded the sharp edge. I also rounded a bit all sharp edges between that cut and the lug in which it is cut. The ejector blade seem soft (I did not take it out yet, but I will polish it on the back edge that touches the bolt) and due to the very hard and sharp bolt edge it will jam. This is why some people resolve the issue by hundreds of manipulations or using abrasive paste (without knowing where it goes).

Took my CZ 527 Varmint 223 MTR back to the gun shop where I bought it today, and had a certified gunsmith look at it. I have done exactly what you recommended and it still a pain to put a round in the chamber. He agreed, way too much slop in the bolt. However, if you put your thumb down close to the bolt center or center axis, it seems to push the round in okay. Tim, at the Military Arms Channel, had the same problem with his 762 x 39 527. The gun shop is sending it back to CZ under warranty. I will advise whenever CZ sends it back. I bought this rifle new in 2019 and have only put 100 to 200 rounds through it.

Any update? I’m considering sending mine back to CZ as well, the fix in this video did improve the binding issue but nowhere close to my satisfaction and frankly, I don’t think it’s acceptable for them to send out so many rifles that will not feed. @@ZRUSOutdoorsChannel I may get myself the 7.62x39 527 as well, good inexpensive round. My 527 MTR .223 target version will not shoot cheap steel ammo without the case jamming in the chamber. The 7.62 ammo has a different case profile that doesn't get stuck in the chamber.

haha, sounds familiar. My gunshot said: That's what you get with a cheaper gun, followed with a couple of suggested more expensive brands...
@gregt5996 Жыл бұрын
@@peterv9492 My CZ 527 MTR cost me a bit over $800, maybe that's not an expensive rifle but I would not call it cheap. CZ makes some fine firearms. It shoots just as tight groups as more expensive rifles, and the trigger is very good right out of the box, and the Turkish walnut stock is gorgeous ! I wanted something that I could practice with that the ammo didn't cost me a fortune. I had the chance to pick up and dry fire a CZ 557 MTR chambered in .243 and the action was as smooth as glass, so I assumed the .223 version would be the same..no so. The .223 is a smaller rifle and unfortunately not as smooth as the .243 and the .308 chamberings. Oh well live and learn. Anyway after making these adjustments to the bolt and allowing break in time my .223 version shoots and cycles just fine. You can't shoot cheap steel cased ammo because of the tighter chamber tolerances of the MTR target version the casings tend to get stuck in the chamber after firing requiring a rod down the barrel to push them out. Also the tight chamber is sensitive to head space issues of the cheap Chinese and Russian ammo, but I have yet to have any problems with any brass cased ammo. The rifle is now discontinued by CZ. It gets a lot of looks and comments at the range..I fitted it with an old Brno target rifle diopter rear sight and Anschutz front globe sight. It will drive tacks at 100 yards. I really enjoy shooting it.

Hey Z, I'm still having issues with rounds feeding. It's like they are getting hung up on the top lip of the mag. I've tried filing down the inside of the mag. I've sprayed the inside with graphite lube. Rounds are still sticking. What should I do?
@ZRUSOutdoorsChannel2 жыл бұрын
How many mags do you have? is it the same issue in all mags? and how many rounds can be in the mag before you experience a repeatable issue? I.E. can you successfully cycle 1 round loaded, then 2 rounds loaded then 3 then 4-5. the magazine spring can be stretched or compressed to change the feeding. If you are experiencing issues on a full mag, you may need to compress the mag spring and reinstall it. Also, some springs are bent upwards at the top front where the nose would be, this bend may need bent upward more to prevent nose dive. effectively angling the bullet upward.
@the.tricky.outdoorsman2 жыл бұрын
@@ZRUSOutdoorsChannel so I can only load one round before the problem starts. If I load five once I get to the first to last round cycling starts getting easier. I only have one magazine at the moment. It's very difficult to find them. I'll definitely try what you suggested and get back to you
@the.tricky.outdoorsman2 жыл бұрын
@@ZRUSOutdoorsChannel just tried compressing the spring and re-installing it. Not much difference, even loading the mag the rounds get stuck. The rounds get small gouge marks on the casing.

Man CZ really grabbed mediocrity from the mouth of greatness with this rifle. Flip the damn safety around, and put some quality control in place with the action. Those two things and you have something.

Would you recommend this over the Ruger ?
@ZRUSOutdoorsChannel4 жыл бұрын
Im not sure which Ruger model you are referring to ?
@ZRUSOutdoorsChannel4 жыл бұрын
If you are referring to the Ruger American Ranch models, I say go with this CZ527. The only thing that the Ruger Ranch models have going for it is magazine capacity. The CZ is a much more refined rifle, the finish is better, beautiful wood stock, amazing fully adjustable trigger and set trigger, iron sights, no plastic. light weight, accurate, and chambered to shoot steel case. its a clear win for the CZ527 over the Ruger American Ranch.

Thank YOU For INTERESTING and INFORMATIVE VIDEO!!! I also have a CZ527 in 7.62X39 which I LOVE, GREAT RIFLE!! I'VE GOT A QUESTION, where did you get that REAR PEEP SIGHT?!!!! WOULD GREATLY APPRECIATE, I'M 71 and my EYE (only have one) isn't as good as it used to be even though I see stuff people overlook!!! I'm very visual and consistently panning my head left and right to make up for my LIMITED FIELD OF VISION!!! My nickname is Hawkeye if that gives you an idea of my shooting prowess!! I show my shooting buddies my targets and they say "REMIND ME NOT TO PISS YOU OFF!!!🤣😂🤣😂 Don't worry it takes A LOT to PISS ME OFF!!! JUST DON'T F--K WITH MY ONLY GOOD EYE, JUST THAT SIMPLE!!!😉😁👍
