I wish this video came out a few weeks earlier! Emberrassingly enough, I had a similar problem and after hours of unsuccessfull attempts to rearrange the vert order properly, I settled down with manually snapping every vert to the correct position by hand. That was a pain to do!

I transformed my mesh after applying the shape keys and the mesh would explode. What fixed it for me was to: select the mesh -> edit mode -> select all vertices -> select the basis shape key -> go to vertex menu -> blend from shape. after that, the mesh deforms in the right way and I can add new shape keys without the model exploding. hope that helps someone!

I made added loop cuts one mesh so this addon does not fix work and my shape keys exploding.

this works great, sometimes for complex meshes (like DAZ 3d characters), you have to repeat this process several times in different places to correct it. also you have to do it on each individual geometric island.

have you tried doing the transfer using matching UVs? (This was added apparently in the updated release of this add-on) I cant get it to work on daz 3d figures... There are lots of islands on a Daz 3d figure, as far as i can see. Each tooth is a geometric island... so it's time consuming to transfer vert ids for each one.

@@gaymo69 I dont think I've used that feature. I just do it for the main body and maybe the eyes, the rest I usually ignore because I re import just those parts into daz as morphs and keep the default mouth and teeth, etc. You may need to do it several times for each island. I think the teeth were pretty finicky which is also why I skipped them.

@@davidtriune8028 i ended up skipping mouth and teeth. also the UV option in the new version of the plugin seems to be broken, at least for me, so dont bother trying it

Great video. Do you have any idea on how to fix the "More than two faces share edge"? i've tried exactly like you said on the video, among lots of other combinations of two faces selected. It simply doesn't work (I'm using version 2.3, the latest one).

but do you know of a way to fix shape keys but keep what was there previously? so basically i want to keep the smile shape key but fix the jank. because when i tried this before it just made all the shape keys i had blank.

My mesh is perfectly symmetrical and mirroring shape keys doesn't work, mirror shape key does nothing and mirror shape key topology flips my entire character. I've tried everything, is there a way to fix this? I've tried everything

@@DannyMac3d And it done. BTWif you want to change/break vertex order quickly you can use this : mesh -> Sort elements -> Randomize (prntscr.com/osxgnk). Now you will have different verts ids

more than 2 faces share edge... that's what I get u.u I was ok this morning, saved the file, came back and mirrored started to messing up my entire mesh, every file now acts alike in my blender... o.O

Love your channel..and Since u r a professional , i wanted an advice from you. i am interested in character modelling and started sculpting just 2 days ago in blender and was able to do a decent job but when in zbrush I got really confused..so should I keep trying to sculpt in zbrush or just stick to blender. Thank you

cant seem to get this to work for me, i select two objects with the exact same uvs and vert count, click the Transfer IDs using UVs, and i go look at both objects to check and they dont line up...

Same, the vert order ends up being completely wrong/different after using the 'Transfer IDs Using UVs' option in Object mode. my meshes have identical UVs. Did anyone ever solve this? or do we have to do it manually for each island?

Hi. My shape keys won't show in object mode and in other platforms like Spark AR. what do you think might be the problem? Thank you in advance.

My problem is that the shape key doesn't come on when using the slider in object mode. In edit mode if I click on the shape key I can see it. Something happened during my workflow and it's broken. Any ideas?

a poblem that Blender suffered for many years now, since 2.7 even, is the fact that somethimes, completely random and inconsistently, the changes on a Bases Shapekey doesnt get applied onto the other shapekeys which in turn fucks all other shapekeys up. say you just took the cheeck vertices and pulled them out a tiny bit on the basis, then you assume the same changes wud apply to the rest shapekeys as it mostly did before. but no, sometimes it works and sometimes it doesnt. now if you activate all the other shapekeys, the cheeck goes inwards all the way to china because every other shapekey has the cheeck vertices on the previous position before the adjustment on the Basis. the worst about this is the fact that the bug itself is extremly inconsistent, it appplies some strokes and some not, and somethimes is applies the change with no problem, and sometimes not. they STILL did not fix this extremly workflow-disturbing and agonizing buig even in 2.9 WT actual F?!?!?! no wonder i have seen tonns of people with their custom avatar in VRchat etc with broken Blendshapes, because its blenders fault!

Will this problem appear if you imported a Zbrush model into Blender?

The problem will only occur is the vertex order is different from the original mesh. Importing and exporting meshes between apps wont change the vertex order (unless you mess up the import/export settings)
