Gentlemen, thank you for the simple yet brilliant explanation for the slice and hooks cure. We can all relate to these shots and you have given us the insight that so many teachers just aren’t able to convey in such simple terms. Thank you Dan for inviting Geoff into your videos. Excellently done!

Great to hear coaches like these two and Saguto Golf talking about SIMPLIFYING the game and not needing to do these wild changes to go backwards. Average golfers don't have 4-5 days a week to practice. Just keep it simple so we can smile and hit the ball. Golf is a beautiful game.

Love this video as someone playing for 4yrs now and capable of really hitting the ball well but never consistently recently my coach had me set up in the more draw setup position and it’s helped me so much with confidence and feeling more comfortable I think naturally I tend to swing more inside and really struggle with everything square and this outside take away it was causing me to just every shot you could hit with a few pure strikes now and then, I noted another coach online advocating more hogan style as you mentioned in this video Dan that the inside take away seems to be coached out of the game

Really looking forward to trying this at the range Dan… I have started putting my right foot back a little but always kept my shoulders and hips at the target! So shoulders, hips and feet should be aiming right with club face at the target? Great info as usual Dan mate 🙌🏼🏌🏼♂️🙌🏼

14:52 I started doing this warm up/drill on my own when I realized that the release I’m looking for is very similar to how I throw a frisbee backhand! (I’m left handed normally but I swing right handed). Standing straight up and feeling like the head of the club is the frisbee has helped my release (and clubhead speed) tremendously! Everything feels so much smoother and easier!
@MiTrenZ2 ай бұрын
Same here only vice versa. Right handed but play left handed. The backhand throw really works.

Excellent video Dan. Geoff's a great and knowledgeable guest. 11:55 that's the secret sauce movement to curing the slice shot IMHO
@kooijbas2 ай бұрын
Yes true, however I misunderstood that for a long time. It's usually told that the downswing starts with the body, but that caused an over the top move for me, because I didn't understand it was a bump/brace instead of a turn.

What about the club face when you set up with feet, hips and shoulders aiming right for an in to out swing? Is the club face square to target or also right and square to path?
@stefanweidner4740Ай бұрын
I have exactly the same question assuming though that the club fact should always be square to target. Clarification would be helpful.
@DanGrieveGolfАй бұрын
To draw the ball the face needs to be open to target and closed to the path
@paulmarjoram22582 ай бұрын
This has my full attention, especially when I heard Geoff saying he’s left handed but swings right handed exactly as I am. However, if you asked me to throw anything from my right side it wouldn’t be good. I.e I can’t move my body through as well as I can when throwing from my left side. Any ideas Dan / Geoff? 🤷🏻♂️ 🙏 🙏 PS. I’ve always played sports right handed when I have to have two hands on the bat, racket, club etc. it’s always felt more natural. 👍👏👏

Just spent $18 (bucket of balls)and 2 hrs trying to stop driver slice …can pull hook or slightly slice and draw on command with a weak swing .as soon as i try to put it into a full fast swing its a crap shoot as to what curve ill get ….unless im trying to snap hook it which seems to happen as i slowly adjust swing to get rid of the slice 🤦🏼♂️🤷🏼♂️😬… high looong slice , adjust, less but still loong and far to rigHt to be any good, adjust some more and slice is almost gone but after couple shots its back ,adjust more and itll go perfect for 1 shot then a lil slice ,then more slice then back to hook … consistency is a mystery to me…i had seen this backwards swing before and totally forgot about it today 😂😂‼️so im at the range first thing in the morning tomorrow trying this

Well what can I say. I'm a 26 handicapper, been playing for a few years and seeing little improvement. I watched this video last night, have been to the range today taking onboard some of the pointers on this video.. instant improvement... Okay hitting well at the driving range, not overly impressive. However went to my course and WOW. Not running before I can walk but as mentioned, relating to something you know, makes it, make sense. Top video

So far no mention of club face at impact, all about swing path. With the advent of Trackman data club face is greater cause of ball flight than swing path.

at 09:26 the club face has to be facing the target, am I right?, if it wasn't you would hit straight into the trees, didn't hear any info about the club face ...
@DanGrieveGolfАй бұрын
Don’t over complicate it. To hit the perfect draw the face would be halfway between the target and path. But concentrate on the path was the message here.
@jennovices2170Ай бұрын
@@DanGrieveGolf well I tried it today and the ball just shot along the ground ... so I went back to hitting driver normal .. with a slice .. pretty brassed off again
@Jam9151Ай бұрын
You will be aiming down the right (if you’re right handed) so the face will be aiming where you want it start and your path will be more right than where you are aiming due to the set up so that will make it draw back to your target. If you aim the face at your target you will have a very very closed face and that’s probably why the ball didn’t get up in the air.
