I'm also in Tucson and have rebuilt a few aircraft engines if you girls need a hand. Rubber hoses / isolators on the heater core lines should be fine and is a common fix. If they can be removed easily they can be braised. BUT PLEASE check your timing on the timing belt before cranking as that is an interference engine to my knowledge.

Oil pump pulley torque spec is 26 lbf∙ft. for the grenade pin the fingers that hold brake pads apart (not all cars have this) works well. Your repair idea will work but you'll need to flare the end of the pipe.

My girlfriend has some advice for getting rid of eye bags. Buy a jade roller and keep it in the fridge. Then when you get up in the morning, gently roll it over the bags. The cold jade will reduce the puffiness and the gentle rolling motion promotes lymphatic drainage and makes the bags go away.

Hey Sarah. The pulley has a rubber insert to just help with vibration from the engine it's not a balanced part on Mr2s. And this might sound silly but you could end up with dermatitis under your arm if it got soaked in oil. The skin there is very sensitive. The grenade pin situation was really unlucky I'm glad you kept your head down and pulled through. Great video!

You're making great progress on Mr. Dos. As far as the coolant lines go, just trim them back and use heater hose to join them to the engine. Assuming that the heater lines are 5/8" diameter, there are actually splices that will work to connect those pieces together. They're normally used to repair hard lines on A/C systems. Amazon has them. Sarah, at first I was certain you were the only You-Tuber using a torque wrench on fasteners. But alas...I discovered that Faye Hadley is also religious about using a torque wrench on everything. So, it's just the two of you...still. I admire your organizational skills, when it comes to taking stuff apart and making sure it goes back together the RIGHT way! Looking forward to the next episode. Love your channel.

This video reminded me of two rules I learned doing the same job on my toyota truck: Rule one: go to pawn shops to get loose tools such as extra 10mm-12mm sockets(because mine seem to run away)....usually they're in a box of loose sockets and you can buy them 1 by 1, same with misc allen keys. Rule 2: I put a little WD40/penetration oil on a q-tips and lubed up the allen key before putting it in the hole which made it a bit easier to pull out.

If I recall correctly, she's got the rest of this engine bit to do, getting the AC and heater sorted, some double-checking fluid, mechanical, and electrical systems, triple-checking for leaks, then if all's clear Mister Dos should be good to go. Instead of the drill Bit you used to help hold the tensioner (I believe that was a #40 drill bit) you could go and find the appropriate guage of Safety Wire and use a long enough piece so you have something to grab onto with a pair of Vise Grip pliers to pull it out afterwards. Of course the reason that drill bit broke instead of coming out is they are hard and brittle. Being that small of a bit and it being basically clamped in place, any sizewards pull on it would cause it to snap off.

wait.. the heater core lines? if you arent hooking it up , you could even just cap it off, clamps not needed cuz it wont get pressureized. if on eng side of things then yeah, connect a hose from the line feeding the heater core to the one receiving the coolant from it and clamp them down. But yeah it would be a good idea to flare the ends to help prevent the hose from coming off. or for a cleaner look if hooking it back up, do what eddiefromcali suggests and use compression fittings or im sure theres even push-loc type too. Girl , dont worry about the idler. I had a helluva time with those bolts due to the 1-mid-cover bracket crap and 2- very limited space/not triple jointed in hands/fingers. GL!

@CHubbs3765 жыл бұрын
For the hard lines, I think you have a good idea of how to deal with the crack. One thing you need to be careful about is putting a bit of a flare over the end to help hold the rubber hose on. Doesn’t need to be a double flare or anything, just a bit to make the hose stay on, sort of like a radiator has on it. My buddy blew an upper radiator hose that way one time when he floored it-shot right off the piece of pipe he had added. Made a real mess and turned it into a not fun day. It actually happened twice before he really fixed, too. Another friend of mine shot a rubber hose off of a hard transmission cooler line the same way. Of course, he was about 400 miles from home when it went. Just so happens the second guy retired from the Air Force as an E-9, too. Point being, the last thing you want is to blow one of those hoses off and shoot coolant all over that clean engine.
