How to change a dodge grand caravan fuel pump

Thanks for the video. Our fuel sensor went out, so we have to have the whole fuel pump changed. It looks easy. Not that we can do the work. But maybe labor won't be astronomical. Just waiting until we burn more gas to make the tank more empty.

You filmed this like the transformer movies, it is so shaky and jumpy I can't tell what you are talking about at times. What can help is to Pulp Fiction it, start at the end when the tank is already down to point slowly and clearly what we need to be careful with. I wanted to look at the tank in a still video image on what is where and what to look out for before pulling mine down, I heard you say disconnect every connection before lowering the tank. However I didn't see where the connection are to watch out for nor how they unplug, some connections are squeeze to disconnect and others are different and it is nice to know what to expect. I'm watching your video to know how to replace the tank, because my wife cut a 3" slice out of hers 1 \8" thick and it needs to be replaced. I already tried to seal it, but the gas appears to be more corrosive than the bond from the kit we got to fix it. I got the idea of how to do it, I just need to find out where all the connections are and how to move everything from the tank already installed to the one we will get from AutoZone in guessing. Might be better to go to a junk yard and check the price out first. Thanks for video, hope my comments help.

My 04 Anniversary Ed. Caravan does not have a pipe leading to an external fuel filter as shown in this video. Instead, the fuel pipes from the pump go directly to the front engine compartment. I've read that in some models, the fuel filter is excluded, instead there is a fuel strainer attached to the pump inside the gas tank, & is only changed out when the pump assembly is removed, ie., it is designed to last the life of the pump.

Is the 2014 town and country 3.6 is the same? Do I need to drop the tank to change only the filter?

The 2 black hoses are the same right? They disconnect the same and look similar from here.

I need to replace 1 hose to my 2010 chryler town country. I found a 2008 Caravan in a junk yard. I told them I only needed 1. Would it matter which 1 they pull off?

@@Rosman1974 yes it should of you have your pump off still look at the fuel outlet and inlet tubes of the pump if you look at them you should be able to tell which hose you need by the size of the tube

I have a question, and I hope you can give me some insight, My 3.3 liter Grand Caravan sport has a born on date of 08/00 and I was told that when the born month is at July or higher (06 & up) that its considered to be the next year model. Does this always apply? The reason for my question is the years 2000 and 2001 each has a different style pump, and I need to replace it. Thanks!

Thank you for watching my video, on your van it would be considered a 2000 the way to verify is look at the hood and the vin the 10th vin number. If the factory is going to do anything tricky on you you should be able to catch it thos wsy For future reference all next model years of cars is after September of that. Just in case you don't want to, you can cut a small hole on the floor to in the van and change it that way without dropping the tank.

I have a problem, the fule pump only pumps the gas from the cup, After finish, truck dies. The fule pump don,t pump gas but its working( noise on )already change 3 pumps. All does the same...pls help

Not sure what your asking but a fuel pump will only runs for a few seconds with the key on and engine not running to get the fuel rail up to pressure, then it will shut off, hope this helps besure yo subscribe to get more helpful tips and tricks

Could be fuel pump relay issue. Some of these engines have that issue. It either doesn’t want to turn on at start or stays on all all night and killing your battery.

What ever you maybe looking at it. Maybe that your looking at a fuel pump and not a fuel pump asembly that has everything the sender and housing. Hope this helps

I have done this on a number of cars, the last one was my 89 Caravan. I had a lot of tool, used a very sharp wood chisel to chop through the floor. Accurately locating the hole over the pump is challenging, but the hole itself was easy. Cut on 3 sides, leave a hinge. I was hoping this video would show just where that is
