You are like me, lots of things on my bucket list to fix. Multitask doing several at a time, parts everywhere but somehow they all eventually come together with focus and it is all worth the effort.

Hi, I'm from Nicaragua, Central America. In 1992 I bought a 2-stroke yamaha gt 80cc motorcycle, I bought it from a neighbor for US$800 with an 8-month term but since I had an accident 2 times, I paid for it in 10 months hahaha. In 1995 I sold it and I regret it to this day because I lent that money plus US$200 to add US$1,000 and they didn't pay me, my father's cousin was my rat lawyer hahaha Until now when I see this video and hear that sound it came to me mind my cute little Yamaha GT 80cc two-stroke motorcycle. GOD BLESS YOU MUCH MORE.

I won't be the first who says that you need JIC-screwdrivers! But I would definitely recommend JIS-screwdrivers! 😉 Great bike, great project by the way!

About finished my '94 kx250. Now looking at the '76 yamaha gt80c (c for competition!) Thinking this will be the year she gets some decades overdue attention. Full restore though... probably take me to mid summer if I start next weekend.

Thank you!!! My 1980 GT80 Is home! Don't have your knowledge but I will clean tank and carb. Don't remember the type of oil to put in left side reservoir or ...is it transmission oil on the right side by your feet? Of course two flat tires. Tubed I believe. Thanks again!

Doing the same thing with a 1978! The kick start countershaft is busted on mine at the idler gear with a worn out bronze bushing insert. Do you know where to find a replacement bushing for the right hand crank case where the counter shaft goes through?

Where did you order the parts for it? I have a 1976 gt80 and have some parts from yamaha but don't know if there's a better source... brake shoes for example couldn't find them 8 years ago so never did them.

I will add to it as I work on the bike. Thanks for watching! Good luck with your project you're gonna love it!!

Hello, im in the process of restoring my yamaha80 from '73 but i encounter difficulties when it comes to parts. One thing i wanted to do is change the screws, do you have by chance any dimensions or a website where i could get them? Thanks

that's the chappy style exhaust mount. dang that looks like a chappy stator and flywheel.

how did that thing start and run? so the ring snagged on exhaust port and ring pieces chipped the piston.

Sounds like an air leak possibly through the crankshaft seals if you checked all the common things.

I would make sure fuel is flowing out of the petcock, then make sure the float is set correctly.
