I really enjoy watching and learning from your videos. I also keep my eyes on a swivel when out and about for curbside small engine freebies. So far I’ve been lucky with inexpensive fixes and quick sales. Sometimes you do have to pass on the P.O.S’s. That way you don’t get stuck with junk. Thank you again for your videos

you got that right, junk will definitely get in the way of making profit

I remember trying to hunt down the specific #0 grease or whatever exactly the service manual called for, in the gear case, when I was fixing one of those exact ones up to use in the garden behind the car shop. We grew a little of everything and expanded it every now and then

I'm still in school, everyone else has jobs like Macas, grocery store and other jobs that get paid by the hour. What I do is flipping ride on mowers. But I mainly deal with mower tractor, but I do love the occasional Zero turn. What I believe you need first of all is to do you research since when I first brought my mower to sell I brought it for $900 and then sold it for $450 so I did lose money but after that everything started to get better, and my profits are now through the roof. I'd be making 1 to 2grand investments in mowers and can sell them up to 3 to 4grand. I'm getting paid more than my friends with less hours and I'm my own boss, so I reckon getting into the industry is a great idea but even so it's not for everyone.

I prefer to fix and flip. There’s no pressure to get a customers equipment back to them asap. And 90% of the time I repair for family, friends or neighbours so I don’t charge nearly enough. Flipping, especially when it’s free is almost always profitable. Finding free equipment in my area is very difficult though. I seldom find them by the curb and free ads are just as scarce. Thanks for your insight.

I got 2 tillers like this from the same place I got the 2 Featherlite trimmers we used years ago. Both tillers had the dinky Tecumseh motors and both ran but both had the brass gear on the tiller shaft stripped and a new one cost almost as much as a new tiller so I junked them out and gave the motors to a pal. Ifixed the trimmers and we used them for years. I never sold anything and usually didn't charge anything for fixing stuff. Just for parts mainly. And we all know that we never know what's coming till we tear into stuff. Surprises are regular. Carb and lack of maintenance is the biggest I've found and just plain aging. Those are good units but have to be greased or the brass gear will strip out. Thanks and Blessings

Do you have to have a special valve for the compression tester
@INSIDEHOUSEGARAGE9 ай бұрын
not sure what your question is asking? The compression tester is nothing more then a pressure gauge with an inline release valve to hold pressure.

The type machine that tends to sit more than being used. Never leave gas in one of these. I use my slightly larger electric maybe twice a year.

Be appreciative of your loved ones who tolerate a garage full of lawn equipment you're holding onto for selling in the spring. "Don't worry dear, I'll have all this stuff gone by mid-March, I promise!" 😅

Been lucky so far. Not freebies, but easy fixes. Got my hands on 3 5600w generators (GX340 11HP) Wacker Neuson... They all work, and make power.. $50/gennie 😁 that's a score!

@@INSIDEHOUSEGARAGE thanks! I actually owe a lot of it to channels like yours.. they've given me the knowledge on how to fix these old engines (or new ones) and get them going again... I just started, fixed two mowers so far, and now have a Snowblower project for the summer with the kids (Old John Deere 726 with a Tecumseh H70). Needs a paint job, a clean carb, point and condenser service, oil change.... going to be a really fun project!
