It's rougher than I was hoping.... What would you do with it at this point?
@peterfenter88004 жыл бұрын
It's a cool car, I'd keep it. Ls t56 swap would be cool. Cosmeticly you could make it look really nice with a good ceramic wax coating, add a carbon fiber small front bumper splitter, tint the windows, lower it, get some gloss black wheels, and I love the back windshield shade flares that go down the back windshield on some of these, maybe led swap the headlights to get that blue light look, Cat back exhaust, Etc.. try and find a wrecked Pontiac g8 or gto and pull the 6.0 v8 and swap it in. I'd definitely play with some more. Inside if you wanted, could get a different shifter, different steering wheel, different seats... just ideas, or you could swap in an old carbureted v8, I feel like this car lowered with a 3 barrel carburetor just barely sticking out of the hood would be sick lol... have fun with it

Be sure to insulate the bottom, sides and top with sound deadening material. -Drive down to Mexico and have body and paint work done. They do great work south of the border at a fraction of the cost. Not an easy decision. I'll say this, If you want to go in a direction of LS swap and T56, be prepared to open the checkbook. Even doing most of the labor yourself, there are costs associated with your engine build (junkyard find and install or performance build, bore and stroke). I'm already 4k in a stroked 408 shortblock. Costs will begin to escalate and if I had to guess, even on a budget build you'll be close to 6 to 7k invested with engine and trans. once you've completed the swap. I say go for the LS swap and T56. 5.3 or 6.0. Either will make good power. And make room in the garage for it!
@Greenlightfilming4 жыл бұрын

I'm late to the party, just found your channel... "80% better" you're starting with a car that's 80% better than what most thirdgen projects started, and you're saying that the cleaning will make it 80% better, so 80 x 80, um carry the 3, add 2... you're already 183% ahead of the rest of us messing with 3rd gens. "Arguably better," excuse me being the new guy here, but I've had a few of these cars going back to about 1990 and I bought a 4th gen WS6 new... It depends on what you want out of the car: - The 4th gen redesign was specifically targeted at the f-bodies primary market, women (every year 60% or more, much more in some cases, of the sales were to women, most people are surprised by that) who primarily wanted a softer suspension and something that drove more like a regular car. Mod for mod you will have a more aggressive car that can go faster around an autox or road course. With the same drivetrain in both, similarly equipped, the 3rd gen will be a few hundred lbs lighter and will go faster in a straight line or handling, and it will feel more like a "race car" doing it. - sure your 4th gen looks good, but they're surprisingly hard to keep looking good. I think it's primarily all the different materials used on the body, uritane bumpers, SMC doors steel roof and quarters, 'glass wing and hood on a WS6 (steel on a regular 'bird), and lots of rubber and plastic trim where the 3rd gens had metal. The fenders and quarter bulge significantly more and the doors are still just as long but much thicker, it seems like every time you park one in a busy parking lot it gets a big ding in it, more so than a 3rd gen. - I suspect that this isn't the case everywhere, but in a lot of areas 3rd gen's have reached "classic muscle car" status. Even a clapped out one will get attention that a 4th gen won't. My current project isn't nearly as nice, it's an '87 Trans Am that had over 1" of bondo on the quarters (I knocked the bondo off, hammered the quarters as close as I could get them to where they should be and for now covered them with some flat black rustoleum just to keep them from rusting until I have time to redo the whole body right), the passenger door is far worse (it was completely mashed in below the bodyside trim, everything below the trim is bondo, and it's not straight, just to make it look a little better I fogged it with some rusty red primer which somewhat matches the fade burgundy paint, it has a black front bumper on it, a black 'glass hood and black mirrors. You get the picture. I drive it often because mechanically it's good, and getting better. It's fun to drive. I get a thumbs up or some sort of attention in it almost every time I drive it, and I'm downright shocked how many 20something girls make an effort to comment. And I mean make an effort, they'll follow me for a couple of blocks till they end up next to me and roll down the window, "Hi, hot car..." or I've had them stop while I'm doing something, "I love your car." (I'm sitting here typing this, looking out the window at the heap in my driveway, back when I got my first one in college it was much nicer and no one cared). It literally gets almost as much attention as my '71 Mach 1. So keep the 3rd gen. If you have to sell one, I say sell the 'vette. If I get the opportunity I'm going to replace my 4th gen WS6, but not because it's a better car, but because it was my first car I bought new and I regret selling that to get a new SHO but life changes required something more "commuter" at the time. "vettes are boring cars that do too much right, they don't have the character. The only reason to keep one would be if you need a dedicated race car (I don't like the look so much but I've considered picking up a C6 Z06 as a race car, they're the lightest 'vettes with modern drivetrains in them).

That's the plan for now. I'll be working around the SBC and T5. Check out the newest video. The car gets the very first MGW shifter for 1982-1992 Camaro and Firebirds. Link to it here: kzbin.info/www/bejne/nZWnmKR4irJ3rs0

I’ll say my ideal choice would be to find a 92 1Le equipped z28 that Blue color was one if the best back then. Whatever you decide we’ll support ya!

Man, I like that idea a lot. What sucks about it, is that a real 1LE car isn't a cheap way to get into these.

Id sell it.
