Been sick the past two weeks luckily my voice is back but my energy, eh not so much. So here's a bit of annual Anime Awards-based reflection in the downtime while trying to feel better and working on my next bigger video. Will be streaming nominees and my thoughts when they're up on the 11th. ► Updates/Announcements in the meantime on Discord: discord.gg/HtHQCJr

i was there live at the anime awards last year it the event was a total disappointment, they wouldn't let us meet anyone, kicked everyone out of the venue immediately after the show was over

That "Woooh" every time you change of subject is killing me. LMAO Didn't watch the event but from all you've covered i feel it was insufferable, not even lilypichu could save it.

Hey! Long time subscriber *and* I just happen to also be one of the organizers of the Reddit /r/anime awards. I'm not going to pretend what I'm about to do is not massive shilling, but consider checking our own ceremony out in February! Many of the things you mentioned in the video are things we already have in practice, slice of life and other categories, numerous small creators guesting, and our downtime is spent getting their insight rather than then simply announcing winners and leaving. We're doing one category a day voting on Reddit right now! While we are a completely volunteer based project unlike CR, nonetheless we're trying to make everything as fun as possible. Hope you end up checking it out!

Yo, good job mentioning Beyond Ghibli in the video. I love seeing that channel get as much love as they can possibly get. Channels like them, Under the Scope, as well as yourself all deserve a lot more recognition in the industry.

To be honest Banana Fish being nominated only once is kind of disappointing since it really was a good show, I may be a yaoi fan but still though it's quite disappointing.

I realy like the ideas and suggestions that you mention , The crunchyroll award would be so much better if any of those things were implemented. I was also thought of ways to improve the award in little ways and came up with 3tips 1 ) dont limit nomminations to just 6, Put as much nominees as the catecory actually need , there some many thinks that are felt out (I am not saying to put 20 but 6 in some catecories like opening is too little ) 2) limmit the series participation on categories to 2/3 . Like an anime can olny be nomminated in 3 different categories. 3) dont nomminat the same anime in the same category for more that 2 consecuty years ( sorry for my english , I am still learning)

Best character design and voice actor and director are great additions but why did they take out like a third of the other categories?
@untappedhappiness5 жыл бұрын
I knew nothing would change the moment I saw they removed some categories. They should seriously organize the voting like r/anime (other than he separated voting days).

The one thing I can't agree with is 'Best VA performance' replacing 'best boy/girl'. A VA's performance can be amazing and memorable, but it's not the same as the character being well written and likeable. The awards in this case are acknowledging actors who go the extra mile and whose performance stands out; for me, best VA would be mamoru Miano, for example, who really brought Koutarou to life, but the thing is I still know next to nothing about the character, who wasn't written with much depth if any and we only saw a glimpse of it in the last episode. His voice acting was on point, I had a blast hearing every line being delivered, and it really sold the character for who he is, but the thing is who he is still isn't much, and I wouldn't pick Koutarou as a favourite character. Best boy comes down to an entirely different standard. If best VA comes down to performance, best boy comes down to writing. Which character is more intriguing, relatable, interesting? Which one has the best growth or best story arc? Which boy made you want to cheer him on and protect him all at once because the writing did a good job of showing their strengths and vulnerability and flaws all at once? The best VA and best boy/girl award come down to entirely different standards and judge entirely different things, and for me that's one of the few, few things that the awards actually did well, this year. I hope you don't take this the wrong way as I do agree with a lot of your points and honestly, these awards are just a major let down for me, but that one statement you made really didn't make sense for me and I thought I'd voice that.

No offense taken! Appreciate the well written comment as you bring up a lot of solid points. In retrospect not really too sure what I was thinking with that argument I had a big of stupid brain going.

You should have waited for the nominations, just like last year the nominations are a joke. Crunchyroll needs to find out how to properly do nominations, last year a slice of life was nominated for best comedy and the said later the slice of life won best comedy. This year half of the endings nominated for best endings sound like a generic opening, sure that can sound good but there is no reason to nominate those endings. Best ending is meant for endings and if it's allowed for generic openings to be put at the end of an anime AND be rewarded for it there will be no endings. Also I've noticed a distinctive lack of highly deserving and loved anime for a few categories. I'm not surprised considering the fact I researched the judges, but let's just say political reasons is not a good reason to ignore great anime.
