Thank you so much for sharing your experience . I have the same boat and mine this summer cranked but is not staying on . Anytime i try to crank it sounds like a gun shoot. Earlier this year i changed the fuel filter since then i’m having this issue. Do you have any idea what is going ? . If you think you can help me with this i will appreciate you sir .

I would def look at the inline filter where the fuel line first attaches to the engine, mine was clogged and causing this issue

Hi I have the same exactly model of engine, my issue is I only able to run just about quarter of the throttle, if I try to go faster the engine just shut off...any ideas. How do I adjust the lbs and the part you talking at the beginning of the video

I would say start with cleaning out that fitting where the gas line enters the engine like I did

My problem is anything after half throttle its doesn't rev anymre just pulses kinda like its hitting rev limiter

Have you checked the pressure from that valve on top of the fuel pump box?

I have this same boat, mine is smoking a decent amount. Have you experienced the same issue and how did you fix it. It is white smoke and it doesn’t seem to have an impact on performance. I believe it is running rich; however, I’m not sure how to fix that.

I haven't had this issue, what oil are you running, I run Amsoil in mine and it seems to burn clean. When is the last time you changed plugs etc?

@@gageboysgarage6059 I just bought the boat recently. I put quicksilver tcw3 premium plus synthetic blend. I checked the plugs when I first bought the boat and they had a little bit of oil on them.

You buy a deletion plate and start mixing yourself.. not too difficult.

I don't think that is the M2 version of the Mercury Sportjet powerhead. Apparently, they changed the design between 2001 and 2002. The main differences are the M2 version has a belt-driven alternator instead of a stator and a more reliable electric oil pump instead of a prone-to-failure gear-driven oil pump. Visually, it also has a different engine-mounted oil tank and a larger cover - the M2 cover is oval shaped and covers more of the engine (the pulley and alternator), whereas the previous gen cover is round and only covers the flywheel. Still a helpful video, though! I'm working through some fuel pressure issues on my M2 at the moment. It's in a Utopia 185.

Well in big letters on the top of the engine it says M2 so I'm going to stick with it being an M2

The engine you are describing with the alternator is the Mercury optimax 250

@@gageboysgarage6059 I think I figured out my issue, I think it's just gel in the fuel so I'm going to run seafoam through a few tanks and if that doesn't fix it pull the pump and check the screen. I did notice I unplugged the fuel pump on the engine and nothing changed, it still ran great til it sucked up gunk, any idea why?
