@@dieselface1 its the type of game i’m referring to. i’m aware that all of the games i’ve mentioned are made from different development companies. my point is the games that are synonymous with the series we all play today, all have excellent writing. fallout owes a lot of its gameplay back then to the oblivion games. sykrim even more so. that’s all.

This was a great video and definitely a better idea than what we got, but I think the Disciples are salvageable. This got a little long, but the TDLR is that Instead of just being a bunch of violence-liking people, Bethesda should have doubled down on the Disciples cult-like aspects. My idea is that they could be tribals who worship a religion inspired by Lovecraft and a highly distorted idea of early 20th-century spiritualism. Their base would be near the Mystery Mansion, as they worship Lucy Grandchester as the avatar of their deities. This would let them keep their blood-thirsty attitude but with more of a religious angle. Nisha would be rewritten as more of a cult leader/high priestess type character, and players could earn her trust by completing a quest for her to explore the Mansion. The Disciples could also have some connection to the Dunwich company and whatever cosmic horror story they were involved in. Their signature weapons would be the Disciples Blades and Handmade Rifles. The latter could be explained as part of the group's new backstory, revealing that Nisha founded her cult after finding the obelisk in the Dunwich Building from Fallout 3. DC was lousy with Chinese Assault Rifles, and the Disciples could have eventually learned to build their own version. Nisha then led her Disciples north searching for more sacred sites and artifacts, and they brought their gun-making skills with them. As for tying them into your version DLC's main plot, they wouldn't be a major faction but still play some role. Perhaps Disciple attacks are a major problem for the Nuka World Gunners, who are outnumbered and far from their supply lines. They'd be a threat to the Nuka World settlers in the good ending too, so players would need to deal with them one way or another way. This could mean killing them, getting them to leave, or somehow convincing Nisha to take her cult down a less violent path. Sorry for writing a novel, but this topic really got my creativity going!

Would be an interesting direction, and I do like the Lovecraftian stuff, though they did already do the cult thing on Far Harbor, and keeping both the disciples and the pack while adding a revamped main quest line would probably blow the time budget, which I've been trying to avoid as a matter of fairness.

2:39 you’ve never used a manufacturer and that shows. Manufactures are great for the “general” playstyle because it lets you build advanced rifles and armor. The issue with the DLC is its implementation and limitations. It needed more stuff to build and should've been settler jobs or at the very least a little quest about restoring a factor similar to the vault tech dlc questline.

Not to mention how its great for late game since you can produce tons of ammo
@amicandapulse

It was said in a joke, but I maintain my assertion that for getting high-quality armor and weapons for settlers, simply trapping Gunners is more practical than manufacturing the armor yourself, as manufacturing combat armor requires the rare and valuable Ballistic Fiber, whereas trapping gunners just requires a little steel and copper and 500 caps, which, while a high startup cost, can easily be replenished by just selling the loot off of a couple of gunners, especially since the repair cost goes down to 50 caps (+one copper and steel) after your first catch. Ammo crafting can be useful, but it would've saved a lot of development time to just add ammo recipes to the chemistry workbench instead of implementing the whole manufacturing system. It's not just "can this be useful", which I fully grant it can be, it's "could Bethesda have made better stuff with the time they took to do this", which they definitely could have, though in retrospect, the whole Assassin's Creed-esque lieutenant system would probably take a lot more time and effort than I'm imagining to integrate into any elaborate radiant system beyond just "don't have radiant quests if a lieutenant is at the settlement", and having somewhat matured since first making these I honestly find my suggestions that are just things modders have already done a little cringey. Settler jobs I do fully agree with though. I was hoping Starfield would expand upon them with their companions/crew having outpost-related skills, but it feels kind of one-step forward one step back on that front.

@@MrTod1984 That’s good, it's just outside of the process of gathering materials (which I have had a bit of trouble with, what with lead being rare in the base game outside of gyms) it's still something that could’ve pretty easily been a standard crafting category like it is in Fallout 76, instead of a whole DLC. If it had some kind of bonus or extra function, like being able to recycle ammo into different ammo types a la The Pitt's ammo press or New Vegas' ammo crafting, or being able to upgrade the machines to be more efficient/faster like Starfield’s mining machines, then it could be more useful, but as is it's pretty much flat out worse than a menu item, especially since it can't draw from supply lines without mods.
@8cladgamer210

I like this as it sorta feels like the Pitt. I imagine new, interesting gunner characters with dialogue. The DLC could provide a better glimpse into the gunners, let you get to know some, and actually have some grey choices too. Maybe some are motivated just by money, maybe some see the gunners as restoring order, etc. I like the idea of the Pack being tribals, and the descendants of the animal activists. That’s a fun idea. I would like to see more done with them, maybe some way to allow the pack to keep the park to themselves that jeopardizes your cover. I would be curious what the gunners would actually do with the cloning machine. It could provide food in the form of animals, soldiers provided it can make people, etc.
@amicandapulse
@amicandapulse Жыл бұрын
Yeah, I didn't have a ton of ideas for specific gunners but I do think it's a missed opportunity to have them always be hostile instead of just only showing up when there's money to be made. I can definitely see a "not angry just disappointed" mechanic happening where you're allowed to mess up/go rogue on one or two mission without incurring any major consequences. I always thought of food and perhaps mounts and draft animals from the cloning machine, or just let a lot of animals go free and repopulate nature. Soldiers seems a little out there given that we don't really know how the minds of the cloned creatures are built. Cloned humans could be amnesiacs, giant children, or completely insane. Plus I feel like that treads on the toes of Gen 3's.

really like developing the gunners more. Totally agree with cutting the raiders. you 4 choices of factions are are group of well meaning militia men, a paramilitary origination with a fixation of tech, a group of scientists that abhor the wasteland, and a group of people who are trying to abolish slavery. WHY WOULD I JOIN THE RAIDERS!

IMO, making the Nuka World raiders tribals with raider tendencies like the White Legs from Honest Hearts would go a long way to improve the DLC. Immortan Joe simulator would be awesome. The Skinny Malone simulator we currently have is less so....

i agree with every thing but getting rid of the handmade rife/AK47 it fits the time line it was made in the 40s on the market in the 50s fits both classic FO's and FO4 overly retro aesthetic (a little to retro at times guns from the early 2000s are canon to fallout so why is most of fallout 4 guns from WW1-2)
@amicandapulse
@amicandapulse Жыл бұрын
Yeah, given that the U.S. should've had like, 60 more years of weapon development, I feel like even today's modern guns would be museum pieces, so I genuinely don't know what actually justifies a design other than it being cool. I don't think the handmade design would've fit the gunners, but I could see them having Chinese assault rifles, which I think are AK-based. Part of me wanted to link the Gunners to Talon Company, and having a Fallout 3 weapon might help, but I didn't really have any ideas beyond all mercenaries knowing each other.

Honestly weapons developed until the 2010s are cannon, look at fnv's assault carbine etc. But polymer should be rare prewar and postwar too on the civilian/police market. I.e. MP5 with wooden furniture or Ar15s like the service rifle, or such. But also Awp with "sporterised" woodstocks. But the future weapons well that's never been spot on besides fallout 1 and FNV's own designs.

What about the small quest of Sierra Petrovita?

Sierra Petrovita's quest could be mostly unchanged I think, and it would honestly feel more in character for gunners to be okay with someone wandering around than raiders, though she might have had to promise the Gunners a cut of any treasure.
