Just wanted to give you a big shout-out. Thanks for posting this video. It is exactly what was wrong with our fireplace and it saved me $200 for the service visit!

I just gave up with my old Heatilator fireplace. I sucked it up and paid a tech to replace the gas valve and ignition and it works fine now. I figured it's worth it because a working fireplace increases the value of your home.

Thanks for this video - mine was doing the same thing and I got no response from a couple of local dealers even for a service call. It took me an hour to disassemble the unit to get to the ignitor/pilot assembly and all I did was bend the sensor toward the pilot and it now lights first time every time and stays lit. Saved me at least $100 or more.

Just scrolling through vids and noticed this one. Sorry for the late post but your pilot flame doesn't appear to be coming from the pilot hood at all and is most likely leaking from underneath at the fitting itself or from a faulty pilot assembly. This is why you're getting a lazy candle like flame instead of a T shaped one which would normally envelope the sensor like its supposed to. Either way it looks like you have a gas leak and should get that checked out. Sometimes It's worth the cost of paying a technician especially when flammable gas (and Carbon Monoxide) is involved. Take care.

Bryan THANK YOU!!! We havent used our fireplace after being frustrated with it work sometimes and not others. Service wanted $140 just to come out. I adjusted my heat sensor by a millimeter or two and fired right up. You saved me money. Thanks again!

Man see the hood over the pilot! It has 3 directions the pilot should be going to. Your pilot isnt even lighting where it should and then dispursing out the 3 paths but yours is lighting way low from gas flow glogged in pilot valve then the gas just pours out the bottom of pilot valve. The pilot valve is clogged. Bend that 3 way hat up so u can use a needle to poke out pilot hole. Its clogged and pouring out the bottom.

I have the same Heatilator model and my pilot won't light. Ignitor working, so far looks like pilot orifice is plugged. I took a lighter to try lighting it, and a tiny tiny blue flame gets lit a little bit below the end, maybe where it screws on or the fitting. Obviously the plugged hole is causing the back pressure to force a tiny leak. So, this model is a hassle to take out the assembly, so I was going to bend the hood but it was pretty stiff and I didn't want to damage it. But, now that I see you say it is okay to bend up, I will go after it that way. Once I get it going I will double check if that tiny flame is still there and take care of it if it is a fitting. Thanks.

@@growlinggrasshopper Compressed air did the trick. Fires right up. 3 directional flame off the burner hood.

Thanks for posting. Your fireplace looks just like mine but I don't have the same problem that you have in this vid. My problem is that the fire lights up but the flame is real weak and barely produces a strong heat. Any suggestions on what to do ? My gas valve is totally open as well.

Here's another possible reason for the symptoms: my wall switch was kinda-sorta defective... when on, it had 100 ohm resistance. Should be one ohm or less. Result: intermittent sparks, especially when the flame was on. So it would go out. Crazy crazy.

Hi: Bryan i'm having a problem with my Heatilator gas fireplace, I have 2 wires disconnected from my Dexen control module it's the positive and negative wire thats not connected and I believe its the reason why my when i turn on the wall switch nothing happens.would please tell me where to connect them or if they require connection. Thanks,Shawn
@kabishshah7 жыл бұрын
Shawn Jones Hi Shawn. Did you figure out if the positive and negative wire need to be connected or not? I️ am in the same condition as you were I️ have two wires that are not connected and can not figure out why my fireplace doesn’t turn on. My pilot light does stay on and the sensor rod is red hot. Any advice on how you got your fire place to turn on will be appreciated.

My valve has gas at the inlet but then won’t send it through the valve

Like a couple other guys have said, your pilot HOOD seems to be messed up. The pilot flame should be under the hood and then it would shoot out from under the hood and easily heat the thermocouple that will open your valve and allow the main gas to flow. There is no reason why the thermocouple would have to be bent that far over. That is no standard bush fix for sure. Why your pilot flame is boiling out from below the hood, I have no idea but the pilot hood seems to be blocked or messed up, IMO.

Yo do not do this LOL! The issue was clearly not the Flame Sensor. This Sensor is placed exactly where it needs to be. The issue is the pilot light hood which is not giving a proper direction. The issue is small amounts of debri stuck under that hood. Literally take a vacuum and carefully stick it next to that hood and suck the crap out.

I know you didn't post the video and you may not know about gas fireplaces, but I have LP gas IPI logs with a different pilot (LPG9608) that the pilot lights but there is no flame that goes to the sensor and it just continues to spark until stopping. I can use a lighter to light the flame sensor flame but there is no rectification and the main burner doesn't turn on. There is continuity in the flame sensor which has no cracks, has been cleaned and the pilot orifices are clean. Would you think this is due to the pilot assembly, DFC board or gas valve?

Need Help: I have Intermittent Heatilator Gas Fire log Model# ND42361 Serial# GA1568181. I have two wall switches. When I turn the 1st wall switch (power) nothing happens but after turning the 2nd wall switch the pilot comes on and stays on but the burner does not. I have: Replaced the IPI electronic ignition control module & A/C Wall Adaptor. Cleaned burner holes and heat sensor (flame is close to heat sensor - heat sensor turns red) . I will truly appreiciate if anyone can let me know what other troubleshooting I can do to get the burner working ? Blessings

What is the problem is your value regulator is bad and need’s to be replace. (Hi low knob). Just a note your 1st switch is power that needs to be turn on first, then the 2nd switch is used to turn on and off the unit. Just keep the 1st switch on all the time, (power) just use the 2nd one to control the unit.
