This video is helpful. I tested the main burner solenoid and it was 60 ohms and the voltage I measured was good and I even checked the current to the solenoid and it was ok. I then whacked the valve and it opened. It was stuck. I retried several times nad it continues to open and light.

Great video. Found that my wall switch for the pilot died.

Here's an additional slightly crazy root cause: the wall switch was semi-defective. It showed ~100 ohm resistance when turned on. Result: intermittent sparking, and when it did light up, would go out soon thereafter. An 85 cent replacement switch does the job. :)

Please give the size of the main switch of the Proflame IFC
@wolfsteeltechnical3 ай бұрын
Hey, great question! It really depends on the Proflame system you are dealing with (Proflame Zero, Proflame 1, or Proflame 2) as this will determine the switch used. I suggest contacting Napoleon Customer Solutions to ensure you are provided the correct information. www.napoleon.com/en/ca/company/contact-us

Hi there. Does the flame sensor/pilot assembly need grounding?
@wolfsteeltechnical10 ай бұрын
The system is grounded through a ground wire in the wire harness and yes, the only way for the flame to be rectified is for the flame sensor path through the control module and wire harness to be ground.

Does this dexen system require more than 1 grounding? Do you need a ground to the valve or 1 ground to the pilot assembly?

@@wolfsteeltechnical I'm going to try that tomorrow on an unit that I'm having a problem with. It's acting like it's a bad pilot assembly event eventhough it's brand new. I will add another ground to the pilot assembly screw to the ground for the main harness and connect them both to the chassis. I may need to add another ground to the main burner metal flooring for good measure.

@@luislibre9616 did this work for you?

Yes it did i added 2 more grounds. And it worked good.

What is the battery relay used for? Ive seen many systems without it.
@Bhaiji-210 ай бұрын
I believe it’s for Remote function. My unit doesn’t use it, but I have the wires and battery holder for it.
@wolfsteeltechnical10 ай бұрын
The battery relay allows for the batteries not to be drained while installed in the battery holder. Provides longer battery life.

I tested my valve, it shows 39Ohm and 59Ohm, i believe it's good. Howevev my burner still will not open even polit it on. The polit will start sparkling once i disconnect the flame sensor (i replaced the entire polit assembly) so I'm assuming the flame sensor is working. Only one thing left: is it the module not outputting the correct control signal to valve, or valve is stuck. Output of green(to "main" of valve ) is reading 1.46V DC +2.6V AC, so I'm wondering what voltage is the correct signal to open the valve? Thanks

Revisit form 4 minutes onward and see if you can pinpoint the issue further. If you cant seem to find a solution, I would reach out to Customer solutions here: www.napoleon.com/en/ca/company/contact-us

Only thing i see missing is how to properly check the millivolts for the flame sensor. I think im having an issue with the flame sensor or gas valve. Now i know how to check valve im good just wanna know about flame sensor testing
@wolfsteeltechnical11 ай бұрын
Thanks for the feedback @MrMcurtis08. There are special tools used in the lab to test microamps of the flame sensor to determine correct operation. In the field, test the other aspects of the system, such as the flow of gas, correct operation of the valve, and flow of power. If all are operating within the correct values, and the issue still occurs, replace the flame sensor.

I got a really strange problem. When I hit the wall switch, my fireplace doesn't light. I checked the valve continuity and it checked out per the test shown. I have 120 AC coming out when I flip the switch and bought a new 3v AC transformer that checked good. I then swapped the ignition module because I wasn't getting a spark during the test shown so it was indeed bad. I figured replacing it would fix the issue but it didn't. What I found out by accident is that when the wall switch is on and I remove the ignition module wiring harness Molex connector and reinstall it, the pilot lights and the fireplace runs every time. The only way the fireplace runs is removing the cable and reinstalling it!. I figured it had to be the wiring harness even though it checked out during continuity testing but figured it may have an issue that wasn't evident during continuity testing. After it lights and the wall switch is turned off again, it will not relight unless I remove and reinstall the Molex connector from the ignition module once again! The only thing left is the pilot and I have one on order and it needs replaced anyway since it's 19 years old. Has anyone ever seen this strange issue before?
