Andrew, I have been watching your videos for a long time and I just love how you manage to give old systems a new lease of life. It's good people are repairing things with care and attention instead of just producing a ton polluting of e-waste. The end result here is very reminiscent of the Sony Sports Walkman design language of the late 80s. Very stylish. Thanks for sharing this.

Good teardown and clean-up, have you considered that the BIOS of on the mother board is not up-to-date? Most people when buying a laptop use it as it is and never update the BIOS. You can try that and then put the CPU inside.
@ComputersAndTechAndAndrew5 жыл бұрын
Thank you bro :D actually the bios is latest, am always checking that before upgrade the hardware, that is standard procedure :D but there is a lot of laptops that theoretically support some upgrade but until you try you won't know, it will work or not
@Scitch875 жыл бұрын
@@ComputersAndTechAndAndrew i upgraded a Samsung R510 not too long ago. The highest CPU that worked for me was a T9600. Maybe try one out if you have the chance, they go for around $10 on Aliexpress so not pricey at all.
@phoenixwright1245 жыл бұрын
This could be an option. But the motherboard does not support an FSB-Clock higher than 800 mHz. A Q9000 demands an FSB-Clock of 1066 mHz. I don't think that updating the BIOS raises the FSB-Clock of the Chipset. But who knows? Maybe it does work.
@NSHG5 жыл бұрын
@@phoenixwright124 If the chipset itself doesn't support 1066, then there's no chance a 1066 FSB CPU would work even with a BIOS update. On a PC mobo, maybe. But on a laptop, no chance.

@@NSHG This is pretty much the same I pointed out. I only told him that he could try to update it ( so he/she can know it him/herself ) ... I mean, it won't destroy anything. I can't generalize something I did not check on everything which is why I told that it might be worth a try.

The rebuild/upgrade was well done for sure. The issue with upgrading older laptops is if all the parts has to be bought, it is rarely worth it. The parts alone cost more than the value of the laptop. Andrew, please choose some neutral soft music if you really need to have it. I would not be surprised if most viewers would like your videos without music. For rebuilds it is always some uncertainties how the product will look like in the end. Suspense as I call it is nice to have. It keeps viewers to watch the video il the end. If you show us the final product in the intro then you are not doing anyone a favor. No suspense. Keep up with more surprising videos 👍🏻

Another great transformation :)) I have upgrade it my 10y old asus from T5750 FSB-667mhz to T9900 FSB-1066mhz and works pretty good. (off course I have update it BIOS before that :) ) My RAM is also ddr2-800mhz. I mean if motherboard doesn't support FSB-1066 should be downclock to 800mhz. So I think intel core2 duo T9800 or T9900 are the best option for upgrade and with combo with that SSD will be great laptop for basic work :) Intel Quad core Q9000, Q9100 and QX9300 has a little bit higher power consumption, so maybe the power supply is not enought for that.

Hi bro, actually this is old school technique for sticking vinyl and mostly is used on cars. After i apply the vinyl i just push out the water using card, then the vinyl is sticking by itself, but for something like this you need quality/premium vinyl, the cheap vinyl has less glue and the glue isn't quality like on the better ones and it won't stick easy, you need to heat after with hair dryer, but in some cases may not stick at all, all depends from the vinyl quality

The thing here is, the Q9000 has a FSB clock of 1066 mHz, which this motherboard, unfortunately, does not support. ;( It supports up to 800 mHz. So ... that's why it is not working. You could upgrade it to a T9300 or T9500, the X9000 could work, too. I would recommend the T9300 or, if you get a good deal, the T9500. The X9000 uses 44 watts, while the others use 35. I have a Samsung Laptop, too. The model is an RV510. Before I upgraded it, it had a Pentium T4500, 4 GBs of DDR3 RAM and a 320 GB hard drive. I upgraded it to a Core 2 Duo T9500, 8 GBs of DDR3 RAM and a 500 GBs Samsung 860 EVO SSD. The T4500 made a Cinebench R15 score of 100-110 in multi-core. The T9500 makes 128-135. I can feel the performance boost, but (!) it is not outstanding, definitely not outstanding. I only watch KZbin videos with it and play some older games, which this Laptop handles perfectly fine. 8 GBs of RAM is definitely nice to have, because I browse a lot and leave tabs open. 4 GBs would be enough, if you don't leave many tabs open and only do one task at a time. The SSD is the part, that definitely made a noticeable jump in performance. But what I can say is that the graphics chip is the bottleneck of the whole system. All in all, I want to point out that such laptops can run older non-performance intensive games fine and that a CPU upgrade on a GL40 chipset is not worth it unless your current processor is one of the slowest on this chipset. Nevertheless, I like this video. The result looks great! Keep up the good work!
