Fixing Mercedes W163 part 3 - Rear suspension

Notice: In this video I install the rear sway bar upside down (that long bar which goes from one side of the car to the other).
The rear suspension got a major restoration. Only original parts there are now the lower control arms, their inner bushings and drive shafts. Basically everything else is new.

This 2005 Mercedes-Benz ML 270 CDI (W163) was our family car and daily driver for a couple of years in 2019-2021. It is currently undergoing major repairs to be roadworthy again and I will probably use it as my daily driver when it's ready.

what about brushing off the rust and puttung on some K-line rost stop primer? You did nothing! The car will be off the road in a few years with that rust.

I’m dreaming about proper sandblasting equipment… After this video I have done another round of rustproofing with some cavity wax products, might need to do a third round soon…

May I ask what the torque of the drive shaft and lock is?

Drive shaft nut torque is 490 Nm

3 little nuts from top of the rear shocks are not easy to remove. please make longer videos and show all the steps next time. Thank you!

Luckily they weren’t stuck in my car… Some parts of this W163 project were filmed in such a bad quality camera, that I decided not to use all of the video material. But nowadays I film with a more decent camera (iPhone se 2020 😅)… So I try to include all the parts of the process.

What are you using to treat the corrosion?

Sandblasting, phosphoric acid (CRC Rust Remover, Dinitrol Annitrol), citric acid, CRC Galvacolor paint, different inner cavity wax and underbody guard products. And grease (basic or mos2, whatever I happen to have around), especially for threads.

Hello! The upper ball joints are pressed in the upper wishbones, it is not possible to change them separately. You have to change the whole wishbone if the ball joint is worn.

Доброго здоровья! Подскажите у меня несколько проблем появилось,1) Меняли стекло лобовое ,так как резинка пошла волной сверху и протекала,вроде всё было хорошо но на днях заметил что с правой стороны пол мокрый,капает прям видно и видно что по стеклу стекает снутри стороны,думаю под резинку попадает в правой верней части,не подскажете что могу сделать,сервисов никаких нет где живу и поехать вариантов нет ?! 2) Оборвало чашку на опоре стойки амортизатора теперь надо менять опору правда не дёшево стоит одна опора ,если сниму и заварю сваркой будет толк или всё таки менять ? 3) Электроника глючит иногда,включаю зажигание пишет старт ерор и стартер никак не реагирует,несколько раз включаю выключаю пропадает и запускается,ещё было еду просто перестаёт работать газ остановился работает на холостом и всё ,заглушил и сразу запустил поехала,просто не пойму куда надо залезти и что делать,что проверить или поменять ! Вот такие проблемы появились буду очень блогодарен если что подскажите !🙏

@@Серажутдин-ц2л1) You should take the car back to the shop and ask them to fix it properly. Temporarily put some tape on the edges of the windshield. 2) What model is your car? I have never replaced strut mounts on chassis, on some models they should be riveted and on others welded. 3) Starter motor or starter relay? - Relay is very cheap and easy, starter motor a bit more expensive and on some models quite difficult to replace.
