My 911 has problems, but we’re here to fix that! If you joined us in the last episode then you will now know everything (hopefully) wrong with my latest purchase, a 1999 Porsche 996 911 C2 with a lovely aero kit and a manual gearbox. This week we take a look at getting the brakes back up to scratch, removing the extremely deteriorated old discs and fitting shiny new discs and pads to the front of the car.

Hmmm...that was 1000 highway miles on those disks. If it were city miles or 1 track event, all that corrosion would have come off. I wouldn't have changed them at all. I would have recommended yellow calipers which would have gone better with the blue color IMO.

Porsche that's been sat doing basically nothing for 7 years? Strongly recommend you get a porsche specialist independant to give that car a proper "pre purchase inspection". Porsche's do not like being sat doing nothing, there's various seals in the engine that dry up and once the car starts to get used again either leak or fail completley. You need to get the car properly checked now before that happens else it could end up costing you a fortune to fix should a seal go.

Nice one, that’s reassuring actually that you found the fronts easy. I did the rears on my’99 a while back and found the pins in the calipers took a heavy duty punch and a lump hammer to remove, apart from that it was straightforward. Well worth doing diy though as a specialist would charge hefty labour for that job. Fair play to you for doing that on grass!

Not the ideal job to be doing on grass but its is what it is, changed all the other cars suspension etc on the grass too 😂 just got to get on with it!

Thought you may have upgraded the brakes to the larger C4S brakes with its Turbo/GT3 set up, quite expensive though.

The brakes are good performers to be honest, they are more than good enough for spirited driving so don’t see the point in adding more weight! Do have some gt3 ducts to go on at some point though 👍🏼

Even though I originally watched your channel for the Audi A3 tips and help I've found myself watching the Porsche videos too. A great channel Mati and always so easy to watch.

A car of that vintage should be DIY friendly. These cars benefit from a complete suspension refresh.

My wallet definitely doesn’t benefit from a complete suspension refresh though 😂 Will have to get saving!
