Fixing my excavator's bent Amazon gentec thumb

I bent the Gentec hydraulic thumb i bought from amazon on my New Holland E35B mini excavator. This is how I fixed it.

Thanks for your video. Would you say a 2 ton machine would have possibly bent this like it did on your bigger machine? I'm referring to the same 30" thumb, which I am considering installing on my bobcat e20. Thanks

I wouldn’t think so. Also not yanking sideways on logs entirely too big for the machine helps 😂.

I've got a 96 komatsu pc40-7 and plan to buy one of thier thumbs for it but they claim a 35" model is what I need but I feel like it's going to be a few inches too long...

Mine is the gentec ht830 it’s 8” x 30” and it’s on a new Holland/kobelco e35. I would size it according to the manufacturer. Look at gusseting around the main thumb pin so it doesn’t bend like this one did. If I remember right you can always mount the thumb up a few inches on the stick so that it lines up with your bucket teeth.

@@CountyLineGarage yeah they recommend the ht1035. Sucks it's $600 more but they also beef it up to 5/8". It's not desirable but I figured if I absolutely had to I could cut a few inches off to get it to line up with my teeth.

@@jont9903 well if it helps you make the decision I know for a fact with the little extra size and power from your 40, it would certainly bend the ht830 since my 35 did.

Yeah that's a good point. I just picked this thing up in January and am dying to use it at my property. We have a foot or more of snow here in upstate NY. No green grass lol. Thanks man.
