What an adventure that was! Sorry it didnt work out for you. Gotta say I admire your tenacity in having a go at it. Now that I have seen you in action I aint gunnu go there. Too much finicky finger work for me. And besides, for all your cautious work the gimble screwed up. Really appreciate your video though.

Thank you for this tutorial. Do you need reset phantom 4 when you change the engine or it will work fine?

Thanks for showing us the guts! Maybe one of the plugs for the gimbal isn't making full contact-and the gimbal itself is ok...possibly the ribbon cable was damaged...it appeared as though the camera had full motion when you "powered on" the drone, indicating the motors and gears were ok for the vertical axis....spare parts are always good though! Looks to me like a connection issue, it was moving right to left as well, I think that ribbon cable to the main board connection is your culprit, those connections are finnicky. Watch out for those aggressive trees!

Are you interested in selling your old gimbal tray unit. I'm in the process of creating a pilot program using drones to locate and track sharks close to shore at our public beaches in south Alabama. We have had many shark attacks over the years and using drones to locate sharks is the only economically viable solution. We hope to save many lives if this program proves to be a viable concept. Our main drone, a Phantom 4 had an insistent that damaged the camera. Even if we have to lock the gimbal in place that's ok. We only need to see straight down. We have limited funds to purchase new equipment so repairing them is our only option right now. We could really use that gimbal and camera. Thanks for your consideration. Fly Safe!
