what a very important and truthful video. Really really good! Often times criticism of "engineered" supports in creator communities gets drowned. You found a very nice way to make the point and stay constructive. I would also argue, that it is never a bad idea to just leave the uv light for some minutes inside of a model. Light bounces in that interior will help too.

@@ericapunkt7956 thank you! I think understanding the relationship between file setup and curing is important.

@@ericapunkt7956 Yea, There's nothing wrong with leaving the UV light in the model for a few minutes and repositioning it a few times, as long as the entire interior gets UV exposure. I do that sometimes. Depends on the model.

I actually never really thought about curing the inside of hollowed models this thouroughly. I just left them in the wash n cure longer. But watching this video, I agree that it is needed. I never thought of using nano bulbs for curing inside. I also hadn't thought of using holes without hollowing. Thanks for those tips.

@@chrisboyd4433 No problem! I started using holes that way to avoid having to learn 3d software lol

So I've never heard how long to cure models in a curing machine,what is your recommendation
@hauntswargaming9 күн бұрын
@@jonrgreen1 I do 1 minute, flip and 1 more minute to cure the exterior. I did talk about that a few times in the video.
@jonrgreen19 күн бұрын
@hauntswargaming yes and that was the first time I've heard anything about it was on yours

@@jonrgreen1 Yea I do 2 min, then sit the models on a windowsill until I'm ready to use them. Or to make sure there's no odor. If there's a strong odor after a day, something probably isn't cured. When I first started I was having issues with the resin odor not going away. I'm pretty sure it was because there were small cavities in the models.

I find two minutes to be a short time! But it really depends on the resin. I recently started using a mix of Elegoo 3.0 and Any cubic Tough and it takes 20 minutes to cure under a UV lamp 405nm.. even then, still has a weak resin smell. I've just been letting it 'air out' to get rid of the smell after curing. It is cured too, can tell by the feel and discolouration of the resin after curing. Extremely flexible too. My go to resin is Sunlu abs like and with that resin I generally go for 5 minutes each side. Summer is the best time, as I just wack the models out on a tray in the garden an hour or so and their good to go.

More than 3 mins starts awaking the resin
@alphanerdgames94179 күн бұрын
If you get the clear resin would it not cure inside without doing all this?
@hauntswargaming9 күн бұрын
@@alphanerdgames9417 I doubt it, because the UV light wouldn't penetrate through it. It would be like shining a light through UV protected glass.
@hauntswargaming8 күн бұрын
Also, If UV light could pass through clear resin you wouldn't be able to use it to print :p
