Fixing Steering Issues on a 2007 Dodge 2500

In this video I replace the steering linkage and I also added a steering gear box stabilizer. Before this I installed a red head steering gearbox. The part that took the most slack out of my steering wheel was the steering linkage replacement, but every part added to the end goal of fixing the steering issues found on these 3rd gen cummins. Next is going to be the steering rod which may have some play in the u joints.

I have an 04 2500, I did my upgrade linkage , PS gear pump upgraded , track bar . now my truck is almost too tight where I over correct. no more bump steering just a light tough and I can feel response. FYI if you take you truck to the alignment shop and they say you need adjustable ball joints its a scam. I also did my ball joints and they tried this on me ... CJC in S California where I try to buy most of my stuff from has a DIY alignment tutorial. I call them and they saved me the $1800 the shop said I needed in work to fix my alignment. The PS pump is pretty easy to replace a few bolts and 2 hoses worth every penny.

I bought an 08 Dodge Ram 2500 QC back in 2008. In 2009 a recall was issued by FCA to replace part of the front suspension since it failed very early.

I did the same upgrade, I added a Thuren trac bar and Thuren leveling springs and 5100 Bilstein dampener. It tightened the steering up as I had death wobble once and it was scary as F%#@. I would recommend a quality shock like fox 2.0, Carli signature or Bilstein 5100. Once done the wobble & wander should be gone. If leveling a 2500 set toe at 0 or very little over, caster at 3.5 to 4 deg and the truck should go straight. If adding a trac bar make sure axle is centered or you can get some bump steer.

That's the wrong pitman arm for that steering linkage and you're supposed to adjust the linkage when the everything's put together their reverse threads on one side so when you spin the adjustment bult it opens and closes evenly

Excellent video. I was looking at replacing my original "Y" steering linkage with the newer so-called "T" or 2nd Build linkage. Before finding this video, I wasn't aware of the Dodge /Mopar part that you referenced. I had found the MOOG part# DS800980A for the 2007 Dodge 2500. The Moog part is about $120 more then the Mopar version. Anyway, thanks for the video. Also, can you provide a link for the crossbar that mounted to the pitman arm assembly at the end of the video.

Looks like your trackball bushings may be what too making some of the noise. Look at your front diff in relation to how it moves by the hole next to it on left side. Axle is moving about half inch+. Might be something to make a vid about. Sick truck btw got the samesame new T style setup too.

Check track bar bushings the same way as ball joints.

Don't you need a new pitman arm for that setup? I thought using the factory pitman arm destroys the tie rod end that connects to the pitman arm.

Man I hope I naver follow you. I Never saw a torque wrench in site. You need more torque that a crescent wrench can apply to the pitman arm nut. Good luck with your up grade.

Doesn't the drag link connect to the top of the pitman arm with nut and thread side down?

Your repairing symptoms. Most cases if not all these issues are caused by a few things. First ball joints. They aren't all created equal. Second is the tires themselves. Not all tires are really round and well balanced. Next to look at is shocks and shock valving under loads. Another culprit is the trackbar frame attachment points. Dodge uses bolts and doesn't have bushings on the mounting points so the bolt threads file and egg the hole out.

Yea, I know. Truck got in a front end collision and the shroud they gave me basically just covers the radiator, and doesn’t actually funnel the air. We recently installed a couple of fans On the grill to help with overheating issues.
