It worked! I had a streak right down the center of my page vertically on every page I scanned. Followed these instructions and it now is perfect, no streak! Thank you!

I almost gave up trying to get the streak from my HP printer when using the ADF, this video was extremely helpful to a novice who have no tech skills to do this. Thank God I persevered and got it! I was about to return the printer to Costco tomorrow..

You instructions are on point. Please do not change anything on your KZbin video. Not everyone is computer or equipment knowledgeable and they need to see every step. I was able to clean my printer in one step by doing everything you instructed in this video. So, I don't know what was causing the lines and I fixed the problem in my first go around. However, not every viewer will do this. I recommend to do all you instructed in one step and if it still does not work then you need to service your printer. This will save you time especially, if you are an impatience person and want to shorten the amount of time to resolve the issue at hand. Thank you again for your excellent video. Greatly appreciated! Thank you so much. I was told by a epson tech to send it in to the company to be repaired. I followed your advice which made a lot of sense. A simple cleanse on the rollers did the trick. Thanks again !

THANK YOU!!!! I have spent an hour trying everything I could think of and just by following these few simple steps, it is back scanning perfectly!! My printer was working properly but all of a sudden in the process of scanning many documents, it would scan but the font was so light, it basically looked like a blank page. There were no streaks or lines just basically a blank page. THANK YOU AGAIN!!!!!!!

Yes, it worked. I have been with his problem for two weeks. I did exactly what you suggested it it worked on my two HP all-in-one. Amazing one can get angry for something can be solved over the internet. Thanks.

Excellent Video. Kept getting lines on top loader (ADR). Didn't know what ADR was or how to fix but this step by step showed me how and the lines are gone. Thanks for posting!

Yes!!!!! The part about the flashlight did the trick. I had cleaned the scanner glass with a "e-Wipe", but that was not good enough. When I shined the flashlight, I saw the spot, used an eyeglass cleaning cloth along with eyeglass cleaner, and got the stubborn buildup of print carbon (or whatever that stuff is). It now works perfect!. I got rid of my last scanner for this problem!

Perfect! I was close to replacing the printhead which would have been expensive and was unaware of the scanner glass area until viewing your video. Now streaks are gone! Thank you!

Thank you, I have resolve this issue by following the steps in the video. Most importantly, you have to tally the line on the printed paper with the document feeder and keep cleaning it 4-5 times and it's done!

Found a small smudge on the glass and rubbed it off and the black line disappeared. Great video!

Wow, thank you so much. I reluctantly watched this video, sure that the problem lay within the printer somewhere inaccessible and discovered that a simple cleaning resolved my issue 100%. Who knew a drop of corrector fluid could create a continuous line on my scans and copies?

NICE!! There was in on the white strip under the scanner lid, (scanner glass strip) which is what was causing the stripes.. I didn’t need to unplug it & plug it in over & over again. I have an HP 3830

Very informative and detailed video. I tried all of the steps demonstrated in the video without stopping in between. My scanner now scans cleanly, although I'm not sure of which step fixed it. I do know that the unplugging of the unit didn't work.

Thanks so much this helped with my HP Officejet Pro 8615 which was showing a black line on scanned items!!! Turns out this black line was on that white stripe on the lid. After scrubbing it off gently for a few minutes my scanner can now scan without any lines!

Very helpful, I thought my printer was defective, until I went in with a flashlight and saw the tiny speckles of glue that were deposited by the ADF-scanned paper. Thanks HP!

I bought an OfficeJet Pro 8600 brand new and brought it home. The feature I bought it for was the ADF and duplexing. The printer's ADF, out of the box, would feed the documents unevenly, causing all scans to be crooked. I brought it back to the store and exchanged it for another new OfficeJet Pro 8600. It had the exact same problem. I contacted HP Tech Support IMMEDIATELY and did not get any helpful response. The scanner/printer has been babied for three years. It has always been kept clean and well cared for. Two months ago the duplexing (two-sided scanning) feature stopped working; it would jam the scanned document every time. Now the ADF does not work at all. Every document I try to scan is mangled. The problem is the same problem I complained about when I bought the scanner: the documents are fed unevenly - but now the problem has gotten worse so that the documents get jammed and mangled. HP should have issued a recall on the OfficeJet Pro, it is a terrible machine and never has performed properly. I will never buy another HP product. It's too bad, my 1990's era LaserJet still works like a champ. Carly Fiorina destroyed this company.

RE: Scan & copy lines on newer HP printer/scanner...I suspected the problem was dirt/smudge on the smaller class (ADF) window but I tried cleaning it repeatedly to no avail. Used Q tip on rollers, pad, guides and wiped the glass several times carefully with microfiber. Even used computer compressed air. Turned out there was a tiny black ink smudge--only visible at an angle with flashlight. Damp cloth on the EXACT SPOT removed it. Suspect it was caused by scanning a doc with still-tacky black gel ink. Note to self: docs must be thoroughly dry before scanning!

Thanks for your review on the HP scanner. I do not have streaks but I do have a dark area on the scanned copy . I have tried cleaning and did all your suggestions. Could you you please give me another idea on how to fix this problem. Very annoying as I am scanning important documents and not very acceptable.

+silenthunterpty I recommend following any remaining steps in this resource on HP Officejet Pro 8600 e-All-in-One and Photosmart 7520 e-All-in-One Printer Series - Vertical Bands, Lines, or Streaks in Copies, Faxes, or Scans. This resource can be found by Google searching "c02881567". If the issue continues, please contact our technical support by going to Google search and enter 'contact HP worldwide'. Your first option should be the site for contacting HP, when you click on it you will be prompted to choose your country/region.

Got a problem but is not vertical black lines, instead, is a vertical white column (like 1inch) , top to botton. Any advice?

This issue is in copy and scanner, in adf and direct on glass.
