Funnily enough, my Grande Punto 1.2 3dr shitbox (as previous owner dropped the front 40mm and rear 60 mm (yeah, I know! lol, and put heavy 17 wheels with 205/40s on it) has a crunchy 3rd gear, so, seeing you rip a gearbox apart to sort the synchro out would be interesting! 🤔😏 😎🇬🇧

I, for one, think that seeing the timing chain replaced would not be boring. We see exhaust, suspension, wheels, all that stuff over and over again, but you rarely get to see things like timing chain replacements.

yeah as much as i enjoy the video's i don't get why not replacing a chain that could result in a possible engine disaster, but then go on and spend thousands on unnecessary upgrades first. but that's just me.

Hey Alex! Regarding a few little fixes, notches in 2nd and 3rd commonly due to old oil and the gearboxes don't like to be changed quickly when cold, you gotta be driving a good 20 mins with constant changes for it to properly warm up, propshaft vibration may be due to driveshaft cups being worn, either new cups, or driveshaft spacers should be fitted (spacers should be on now as you're running coilovers)! Hope this helps.

Seems like a waste to just chuck the old gearbox because of one syncro. It really isn't that hard to fix, just time consuming. Plus you'll get the extra experience from pulling the gearbox apart and putting it back together. Anyway, love your content guys 👍 keep it up!

My friend has an s2k and just looking in the engine bay hurts by back. You have to lean over so much car to get at that engine, no matter what angle you come at it from. I also remember we did the valve adjustment and accidentally put the cams back 180 degrees out of phase, so when we tried to start it, it sounded super weird (I think because it was sucking air in from the exhaust and pushing it out of the intake)

The top wears in the usual points, because the straps that open and close the top are worn. If you don't replace the saggy straps, the top will tear. You can extend the life of the top, and the straps by pushing the bar the straps pull, while the top is retracting.

If I'm not wrong, you don't have VSA (ESP) on your S2k, so I'd advise to go for the different front/rear tire size& width combo that's on the facelifted version. An acquaintance had one with VSA and it still was a bit tail happy (not in a drift, but rater dangerous if used unwisely) on dry and especially on wet so make sure you take care of it with very good tires like Michelins PS4s Personally, I'd love to see the facelifted rear lamps (with LED's) which bring the car a bit more up-to-date. Also, when all the tech stuff is done, I'd enjoy if you can give it some care and do a proper rustproofing/undercoating at the end. Looking forward to the next episodes in the series. I'm a big Honda S2k fan S2k prices will go nuts in the next years (they have on the main land for several years now) and it will be a great collectible.

The hood latch can be fixed by lining up the tabs with the marks on the chassis. It should close just by dropping the hood.

Fix the gearbox too many people replace rather than repair. Also good luck with the geometry. Those bolts are a nightmare And take the airbox lid off for some free vtec sound. Try it.. sounds even better than the exhaust

A brand new set of carbon synchros in the stock transmission would be my choice. Swapping in a AP2 transmission would be the same as changing the rear diff from a 4:10 to 4:22. AP2 transmissions have carbon synchros compared to AP1 brass syrchros. AP2 swap would also be with a used transmission. You can upgrade the stock transmission using AP2 synchros if you’d like longer gearing for future boost.
