Looks like those were dated 2007 so I reckon they were on borrowed time for failure always better to prevent than fix I think. Nice work as always guys

With regard to the throttle actuators. The root cause of them failing is overloaded circuit boards caused by the motor working harder than it should because the heat of the engine dries out all the pivot points of the linkages that connect the throttle actuators to the butterfly valves on each throttle body. The whole mechanism becomes dry, stiff and squeaky. It’s important to lubricant all the joints thoroughly when you replace the throttle actuators, so the whole mechanism can move freely - otherwise the new actuators will just be working far too hard and they’ll fail prematurely as well. People mistakenly think worn plastic gears are the root of the problem. They aren’t, they’re just a symptom.

Are you sure it's not the electronic part of the throttle actuators that get overloaded, due to crappy gears not working right?!
@mista57966 ай бұрын
@@jameswiththeM6 it’s typically the circuit boards that fail due to motor being over worked due to dry/stiff linkages coupled with worn plastic gears. Replacing just the plastic gears won’t solve the problem

Are there E60 M6 convertibles with a 6 speed manual and rod bearing changes out there? Or is this chasing a pipe dream?
@jameswiththeM66 ай бұрын
E64 m6 6 speed with upgraded rod bearings are out there! I know in the United States, I have no idea about in the UK or anywhere else, Ive owned an e92 m3 dct, and now have an e64 m6 convertible, smg, with upgraded rod bearings, kinda close to what you want but not a 6 speed lol.

Got a 2007 M6 with 55k - at what mileage is it recommended to do the replacement? Thx
@EvolveAutomotive Жыл бұрын
If you’re planning to keep the car a while, you may as well do them now
@jameswiththeM66 ай бұрын
Latest you should do them is at 65k miles, I've heard of some fail at 70k or even sooner. But yes I'd do them as soon as possible, and make sure to do both. Try to get the evolve uprated throttle actuators if any.
@rulebraking6 ай бұрын
Appreciate your reply- BTW are they both the same - interchangeable or specific for left n right? Cheers mate

You guys mentioned that the actuators fail due to the internal gears being made of plastic, do you replace the gears with ones made of a more durable material? Or will replacement actuators eventually need replacing too?
@EvolveAutomotive2 жыл бұрын
We do yes. As said we are so confident they won't fail again that we offer a lifetime warranty.

Instead of doing such ugly zip tie bodge with broken idle actuator's connectors you should replace them. Bank 2 one even has a hole. Not sealed anymore in a car that operates in corrosive environment. Connector for bank 2 throttle position sensor seems to be broken too. At 03:51 you're touching the gray connector with a hole. No surprise when owner starts to get idle actuator errors due to corrupted signals.

I got a 2008 E60 M5 and had a question. Currently getting the increased emissions check light engine, and, turns out my primary cats are bad or the o2 sensors. my question is, could I have the secondary cats removed, and the primary cats drilled out, then use Evolved's tuning program for cat delete? I'm located in the US. ( also found out car is misfiring as a result of this)
