Don't knock the Fox. It gave sterling service as a recce vehicle. Untrained drivers had a tendency to roll them but careful drivers could push them to the limit. That 30mm Rarden cannon was taking out T55's with APSE and APDS during the 1991 Gulf War.

Re the jammed injector pump seat, I believe it's down to the fuel quality and storage. Due to poor filtering along the way, fuel has several/many grades within it. After being stored for a while, the more volatile stuff evaporates away, leaving the sticky/ tarry stuff behind. If you are often running the machine (even on the junk fuel), you get away with it as it doesn't get chance to stick, but if you leave it long enough the tiny tolerances get jammed with the rubbish.

Come on guys, have a little respect here. That could be a girlfriend/wife/sister of one of the team and it is a touch lecherous. What you want to see is not necessarily appropriate - this is a channel for military vehicles, not Onlyfans. Maybe the "babe" behind the camera is not as happy as you are being ogled.

@@TheSussexpillbox Sit down and have a quiet word with yourself dude, go find a sense of humour and stop trying to take offence for someone else. Especially when none was clearly intended. Indeed my comment was very clear on my appreciation of what the lady does around the workshop and behind the camera and I never mentioned 'looks'. But no being the POT (Professional Offence Taker) you are you have to drag in lechery / inappropriateness / OnlyFans / ogling.🤦♂ What a sad little article you are. I was surprised nobody has said yet the trouble that you were having with the clutch on the Fox is that it's not a clutch it's a pre-select gear change pedal. Which I'm sure you know requires you to change gear and then stamp on the gear changer pedal to put it into that gear. I spent a few happy years driving foxes around the uk and Germany.

Someone locked me inside a Fox over lunch one day, when I was an apprentice at Ruddington. I think they were taken out of use, due to being top heavy and being prone to rolling over, with lethal consequences. Some turrets went on Scorpion hulls. This made a Sabre vehicle, if I recall correctly.

ah bless, i like the ol' Fox's, a tad more practical whizzing down the road, only 4 wheels / tyres to change and not full tracks, we had Continentals on ours and it went rather rapidly down the motorway, great to see people smile in traffic when they saw you trundling along - like the ol Ferrets, great off road both forwards and backwards, ours handled very well at speed across the ploughed fields, steady as a rock, and just like the Ferret the steering wheel is set at a stupid angle rather like a submarine but you didn't tend to take skin off the knuckles like in a Ferret but all a question of taste, yep engines are a pain in but Jag 60s, horrible temperamental from what i remember and that ain't a lot now

Nerdfo, information for historic diesel nerds; :o) this one way valve is the one you remove to time the engine. At some point before top dead centre the cam in the injector pump will start to lift the injector pump plunger. During its upward stroke the plunger will go past its inlet port. Without the one way valve fitted diesel will flow out of the pump until the inlet port is covered. That is when it would start injecting. If the flow stopping matches the timing marks you are bob on. Everyone used to have a sawn off bit of injection pipe in their tool box so they could see exactly when the flow stopped. (Drips stop) It was called a swan neck.
@jonathantarrant2449 Жыл бұрын
Thats what we call it, is the diesel has gelled. Its the paraffin wax issue. Next to the black algae from the biodiesel, gelling is properly the 2nd thing to plug off filters, or injector lines
@Iaintwoke Жыл бұрын
Diesel bug can be a bitch with modern diesel. A common problem with boats which get treated, sometimes excessively and then sat around for months doing nothing. The treatment needs to be circulated then burned off to work correctly.🙄

Just recently subbed, and I've watched around 30 videos I used to drive the 432 with a L37 turret a smaller turret than the one you are driving in this video, my only gripe is I've not seen anyone use the most important piece of equipment on a British Armoured vehicle, yes the BV it was a lifesaver out on exercise especially when it got down to minus 20 in Germany, otherwise good videos, for a bunch of civvies.

FV432-30 Pretty rare beast. I think about 13 FV432’s were converted by slapping a 30mmRarden turret from the Fox (your nemesis😀) and were used by the Berlin Infantry Brigade as fire support vehicle. Quite what 13 were going to achieve against a soviet tank army is the ultimate triumph of optimism over reality🤦♂️
