Thank you for the mention! Glad that it worked 😁 P.S: all engines lose oil pressure over time when stopped, the problem with twinair/multiair engines is that intake valves are operated by oil pressure... so, no oil pressure, closed valves, no compression and engine not starting 😅

FAN-TAS-TIC result, Nino, given it’s a second-hand ‘crate’ motor I was dubious, and the initial ‘Thresher’ noises didn’t convince me she was ‘right’ (very knocky’ on start) but quietened down, and I hope you had fun on the extended test, which I am really looking forward to watching! I can't fault you for being overly cautious. Good to see her running again. New parts and a fresh MoT will be peace of mind for the next owner. I had to do some MoT work on a 2012 Fiat 500 with just shy of 46K on the clock. It runs beautifully and it subsequently passed the retest. There will be a video on my own channel in due course.

Nice one! I remember that feeling of joy as mine fired up after having the same issue with my Fiat Panda twinair, after leaving it stood for a few weeks! Sounds perfect, that 'knitting machine' noise when they first fire up when cold is fine. 👍 The triangle orange warning light usually means a bulb out etc so probably just becaue you got lights unplugged, the system is very sensitive to things like that.
@NotEconomicallyViable2 жыл бұрын
If I hadn't have spent a few years driving this car before it died I probably would have been worried about the noise they make, but as you know, that's just what this great little engine sounds like!

@robthomson2732 Жыл бұрын
I know I'm really far behind in terms of time frame, and future videos may address this, but thought I would wade in. There's a very similar issue regarding oil pressure on Ford Engines, the 2.2 and 3.2 Diesels. Basically once the oil pump is dry or has air in it, it wouldn't be able to take suction and consequently oil pressure. There is a somewhat dubious "10 minute rule" when doing oil changes on those engines as if you leave it any longer, the oil pump won't be able to pick up suction. Ford's issue is they used a vane pump, luckily smart people make a geared aftermarket conversion kit. Sounds like Fiat are doing something similar!

If that hose uses a jubilee clip, sometimes they just don't tighten with even constriction, especially on a reassembled old hose, there can be an open spot. A constant compression spring clip may be a useful replacement. If not a little rubber grease on the inside of the clip may allow it to slide round the hose with a bit more compression.
@NotEconomicallyViable2 жыл бұрын
Nice one, will give that a go 👍🏻
@MrPabsUk2 жыл бұрын
Well done mate. I did notice the thermostat housing was a bit corroded before you put the hose on, it could be that causing the leak, as Fiat hoses tend to last the life of the car. It`d be worth sticking a new thermostat in it when you re-do the coolant.

Question as you have experienced this issue. Im looking at a 2013 Fiat 500 with 35K miles. The current own said the low oil pressure lite is on and they towed it home. All the article Ive read says the engine is bad. Its hard to believe that a car with 35K has this kind of issue. Even the deal I called said the 500 is junk and not to buy one. Any thoughts?
