So excited for you to be making serious headway the past two weeks (or before when you include editing and posting the vids). Looking forward to seeing everything back together eventually. I think most of your other windows screw into the body if I am correct. Watching you run the screwdriver under the rubber of the roof windows made me cringe. When I was a motor mechanic many years ago before bonded windscreens were the norm; we ran light gauge cable through the rubber lubricated with liquid soap. One guy on the outside pushed on the rubber while the guy inside pulled the cable which made the rubber fold over the bodywork. Safe for the paintwork. The Saab 99 & 900 had a very curved front windscreen and were difficult to fit. This method helped prevent breakage too.

I think the problem with the sealant you can't get here is probably due to EU ROHS regulations. But I think you should be able to find replacement stuff that are ROHS compliant and legal. You can ask in a local home improvement store for the strongest sealant for a pop-out roof.

Thanks for your input! That’s probably right! Had no luck finding an answer yet. They all just recommend MS polymer.

Great build! Love how you re-engineered problem area's. I've been designing a pop-up foamie on this same design. You gave me some great ideas. How is the top locked in the down position? Or did I mis that in your videos? Thanks for any input.
@Ollaris
@Ollaris Жыл бұрын
Thank you very much! There are latches that lock the fold down side pieces to the rails where the hinges are mounted on. I still have to mount them. I will show it in my next (and probably last) video in this series.

@@Ollaris Thanks for reply. Look forward to next video. Thought of pop up camper latches, or similar to jeep engine hood rubber hold downs, but didn't want to have to use ladder to get to them on roof. Again great job on complete overhaul, I've watched all video's a couple of times.👍✌️
