Indians don't win medals because of the politics getting involved in sports. Our sportsperson are equally talented. All these hi-tech facilities are available to Cricketers. Only if our public can take interest in other sports then the sponsors would flood them with much needed financial support too. Everything can't be left to the Government. Ultimately it is the public which should be interested. Congrats Meerabai Chanu on the Silver!
@RustyDustyCrusty3 жыл бұрын
Government can at least help in creating awareness and interest at the grassroots level, they can start by increasing the number of PE classes per week, and making 1 Olympic sport compulsory in every school (evenly distributing the sports) but the least they can do is not decrease the sports budget (especially during an Olympic year). Every country in the top 10 of Olympic medals tally has a strong government backed program to make it happen, which includes govt funded world class training facilities in every major city and town all across the country, sports academies, sports research universities, specialist coaches, doctors, scientists and trainers and many more, that's how they get to the top.

Goes to show how much having a great sports PT can do for an athlete's entire career. I don't think there is even enough universities or training centers for sports PTs in India. Expecting the sportsperson to shoulder the burden of bringing home medals without investing in the rest of support system isn't going to do any good to our athletes or Indian sports in general
