Tip for the painting part. As shown by cris fix himself in a different video I believe. When he paints the area again he uses a piece of paper folded over but not creased. So it’s kinda like a teardrop shape, and the round edge creates a feather effect when you paint on it. You can then mask up every other panel and only feather the paint in on the area that it needs it. Look at cris fix he has a second video
@raymondrasco33882 жыл бұрын
Multiple layers of body filler was the perfect thing to do. One large glob does not work properly.
@taylorebenguard6998 Жыл бұрын
body filler in general isnt a good idea especially with rust holes but small dents ect is fine but something like this is a big NO but since its just a cheap car its fine for a little touch up although i never would sale the car as if it never had them rust holes in it

I’m a ASE master mechanic and what you dude was no easy task for a amateur with next to no tools or experience. First, the fact you used car-part to find the fender was a definite great decision. Then to jump in and dedicate yourself to doing the body work on the rest is pretty impressive. I have worked with dudes with credentials similar to mine that wouldn’t have done as good as you did. Now I could not pick small details I seen but I won’t because in the grand scheme of it all, you did awesome for your skills, equipment and circumstances.

Taking your time filling and sanding is actually better then just whacking it all on ,helps fill out those micro sized defects allowing for less bubbles and a smoother paint job

Not half bad! Nice work and great idea. When I was a teen I used to hang around this body shop “local kid hangout” for the most part. First lesson I learned. Find another car same model and color and just take panels you can from that at the junk yard. After a few years fresh paint stands out to older a few year old paint so it never look’s perfect but! A part of the same year ish would fade similar and look more natural and not like it was repaired

One thing to know is you dont mask paint it leave an edge. Eg if you need to paint a door let's say front if it's black and straight black not metallic you mask front guard and back door and anything you don't want to paint obviously like windows etc. Sand body filler with 80 then 120 then 240 use high fill primer. Sand primer till you see your body filler fill any low spots then prime and Sand with 240 wet. Dry whole door and re mask if necessary then paint and clear coat. Wait about a week then Sand with 1200 don't use you fingers only you palms then buff.
