So odd to see that... and yet, not really, given the decline in production quality that so many manufacturers had in the time. I have a newer Elna serger, and they went back to a full metal feed dog after this. Lesson learned, I suppose! And still a very reliable, sturdy machine that produces a really nice stitch.

Great video. The adhesive you are using is contact cement, which is pretty good. I have used it in many different projects. One thing I have found is it does not like heat. Once warmed up the cement does not adhere as well and the part will start to slip and lift, especially in a sheer type situation like this. 3m double sided tape, not standard consumer type, more like the type used to adhere lcd screens to phones and tablets may work better if needed. It also comes in varying widths. Just information, excellent video. Thank You...

My personal go-to for glued connections of which I want to be sure won't come off, is two part epoxy. It usually comes in a double syringe type body, you squeeze something out onto a piece of cardboard, mix thoroughly, and apply. In 10 minutes it hardens and it cannot be reversed or degrade with time.

@@tHaH4x0r Another option if you want something that can be removed if necessary is a "flexible" CA formulation like Gorilla super glue or Locktight super glue can that be removed later with acetone. Acetone will dissolve CA but you have to make sure it's not something that is attacked by it (nylon, POM/Delrin and HDPE are safe but many other plastics are not) The oldschool "krazy glue" type CA has low shear strength and is brittle but that has been fixed with modern flexible formulations which are much better (just make sure you're getting the good stuff) For things I never want to let go I use either JB Weld or Devcon 2 ton epoxy. The Devcon is slumping unlike the JB weld which can be useful. The Devcon is also an insulator unlike the JB weld (which contains iron powder) so it's good for covering small circuit boards to protect against high vibration enviroments (like on a gasoline powered RC plane)

The question I have is what will happen as the rubber wears over time. Will the rubber mar the fabric if and when it deteriorates. Seems like a textured chrome tape or carbon fiber vinyl tape would work also.

I have a Viking embroidery machine that has a part that broke. Viking had a problem with the part and now no longer makes it. Reminds me of what Elena did. It’s a simple little piece of metal, that’s keeping the machine from working. Can’t buy the part any longer. Would love to see if you could fix. Seems a shame to toss machine just for this part.
