Also, our blinker was going fast intermittently as well, and turned out the the bulb wasn't out (even though I bought another bulb, ugh), and it was just a loose connection on the bulb itself from bouncing around. Nice work on your video.

On our '10, we had a REALLY annoying squeak that, after much bouncing of the front bumper, turned out to be an metal air conditioning line exiting from the radiator (condenser?), that barely touched the bumper on the lower right side as you face the front of the vehicle. A quick spray of WD40 silenced it. We also had/ have creaking from skid plates. Every oil change should also get a bit of grease where the plates meet before re-installing. We did front and rear Expedition One bumpers (for FJ AND '09 Tundra- winches and Diode Dynamics fogs) with a heavily modded swing out tire carrier to hold Co2 tank and an 11lb propane tank, as well as a basket above the tire. Heavy business for sure. Great looking FJ btw, and we were kind of freaked out at the headlight mods! Very cool! Too broke to do much else unless we hit the lottery. Also, did you re-gear after putting on the 35's?
@the_stable5534 Жыл бұрын
Wow sounds like you have a serious set up! I haven’t noticed much squeaking from anywhere else ( knock on wood ) so hopefully it stays that way. I haven’t done much to the FJ since this video. From all the research the Vland head lights seem like a hit or miss. Some people have 0 issues others have a ton. I think I fell in the middle. I haven’t done a rear gear yet but it’s definitely on my list along with a rear bumper that has a swing out for the spare.

@@the_stable5534 Either way, the headlights look great. Our mod budget has been exhausted, and 5 dollar gas is just so "California". Thanks Noose 'em! For the record, we have a Northstar slide in pop top camper in the bed of the Tundra (best mod of both vehicles so far) which I can't recommend highly enough. Occasionally we take both vehicles and head for the hills or desert. Because of the gas prices, that isn't happening very often. We're running 33 10.5's on the FJ, and while re-gearing isn't what's needed, a supercharger would be nice, but again, we'd need to win the lotto, right? With that said, all the mods mean nothing if you don't get the family out to nature (or yourself and your friends), so plan some outings as often as possible before you start turning grey (like me, lol)! The wife and I are stoked for you, that you're healthy, sharp as a tack, and recognize the value of what we do and why.

Nice video. I put this same kit on my wife's 2007 FJ last year with the recommended bulbs from VLAND and had the same issue with the high beams. Out of the box, the projectors only worked when the headlight switch was on high, so I swapped the wires like many suggested. That made them work with the switch on low, but switching to high beams turns them off. When you turn them on as originally wired, like you said in the video, you can hear something making noise. I think there is some type of baffle/door in the enclosure that moves up and down to switch from low to high by blocking some of the light.

I’m sorry you’re having the same issues as well, unfortunately I haven’t made too much progress with them. If I end up figuring them out I’ll definitely do an update video!

Same problem here bulbs go out when you hit bright. I am wandering if it is because with a stock bulb with two filaments, the power is cut to the low beam side. If it is only using a single filament bulb on low then switching to high wound cut the power to the bulb. Could be wrong just trying to think through it.🤔

One of the comments on Amazon about this product mentions to switch the wires connecting into the external relay in the back of the housing, seems to resolve the high low beam issue. . Hope this helps
@tutusdng46442 жыл бұрын
Yep that's correct. U are switching the wires because these are going to a diode, which allows the current to flow one way only... If u do the opposite, it won't work

i got a theory or a guess as to why they turn off when you switch your high beams on. i have an FJ with stock headlights and when i bought the fj it had 2 round lights bolted on bumper not sure if that was stock or how they came originally (they may have because i also got to "FJ" covers for them) because i see alot of FJs around with just the regular old headlights with no extra ones on bumper. anyways back to waht i was saying. when i switch my high beams on the headlights turn off and the 2 others light up as my high beams. could it be possible that the vlands were meant to be set up with 2 extra lights? in my case i want to get the vland headlights but will keep those 2 extra lights aswell for my high beams. wonder if it'll work. also did you have to reverse the wires in order to have the projectors stay on on the low beam setting. thanks. about to get this set up and came across your videos. good stuff man.
@the_stable5534 Жыл бұрын
Thank you I appreciate it! I’ve seen the second set of lights your talking about on fj’s before, I’m not sure if they are a factory option or not like you said. That could be the problem, I’m not to sure. Currently, when I turn the headlight switch forward once, the DRL’s come on. So at night I just use that, and the pod lights to see if I need them without it blinding people. If I turn the headlight switch all the way forward, the brights ( projectors) come on and they are extremely bright. They work good enough for me now, I haven’t messed with them since.
