I just installed FL studios today. I knew nothing of shortcuts or where buttons were. I just spent 8 hours going through this tutorial step by step, writing notes, googling terms and learning. This is a GREAT video for brand new people. There are some shortcuts that some should know F5, F6, F7 and F10. Also using display capture for recording in OBS would be better than application capture because it would display your mouse cursor. It was very hard at times to tell what he was clicking on - BUT - this was an amazing tutorial. I am off to complete another one. Thanks so much 💖 Subbed and liked.

7:27 Instead of putting up scales like that, just go the the arrow on the left besides the magnet, select, mute, draw, those options, scroll down to helper, and then scale highlighting. Then choose whichever scale. The piano roll will be readjusted to the scale.

+Raye Humphries Yeah you can: 1) Add Pitcher to a channel you know your not going to use. 2) Open Pitcher and choose what key you want 3) Change whether you want Minor, major, pentatonic etc 4) All the highlighted notes will be the notes of that key Its handy but probably quicker to just google whatever scale you want (doing this you'll also get more complex scales)

I might be late but this might help. When doing the so-called "SCALE" always start with a key chord and all the chords that follow. Example: C ... C-Dm-Em-F-G7-Am-Bdim. But in this case we arent using chords right? Its fine, just place the root chord in the scale without minding the minors and sevenths, and that will give you sir, THE SCALE. Also, circle of fifths can be of great help. Its also easy to learn.

This is a great tutorial, but I just wanted to nitpick that the scale you are using to make the melody definitely does not match the chord progression, in the A# chord. There’s a wrong note in there. The rest of it is great though I think the problem is that in the beginning, the scale you made was an Ionian scale, but your chord progression is Lydian based, which is why you ended up changing some of the notes throughout because you realized it was off.

Advice for making edm is basically you wanna not just jump into it you just wanna mess around with what you have like your synths and find presets you like and just keep practicing till you feel confident to make a song its all just practice man! :D

M-Cool You have to practice regularly for at least 2 hrs. Notice: Your mind should be free from all tension and anxieties. So you can recognize the sound and everything which is necessary for music. Don't just jump to making music first learn basics and beats.

You are probably using the latest FL Studio 12.3. Only it has the feature to hide certain note names. To view all notes, open the piano roll and click on piano roll options button (the little triangle button on the top left), go to View -> Key Labels and click 'All Notes'. That should solve your problem.
