RE: Monitoring employees -- companies have been able to monitor computers both remote and in office for well over a decade. From keystrokes to display monitoring, its even in schools. What they're doing now is micromanaging to the point of putting keystrokes in your job requirement i.e. 100 keys per minute or some other arbitrary quota. On top of that, its becoming more common to require employees to keep their webcam on while on the clock (some can literally detect when your eyes move off of the screen) and use lockout browsers -- browsers that block any other displays you have or applications running. He is disliked by people who didn’t watch the episode. As Andrew rightfully pointed out, most of the things hasan is saying are things the everyday American would agree with. But when someone like hasan breaks it down and explains in a conversation, 90% of people are going to agree with what he has to say
@Zombub

@@Cam-rw7fr Exactly. I'll literally hear conservatives that clutch their pearls and scream "Venezuela!" everytime they hear the word socialism, but then go on to talk about how much they are for the working class and workers rights. @@Zombub Scandinavian countries aren't socialist. socialism means everything is owned by the state. zero private property. and definitely zero rich people. Scandinavian countries do have lots of rich people. and I wonder why even talk about Scandinavian countries in such a high regard when Canada or Australia are basically the same as these Scandinavian countries in every way. I believe Scandinavian countries are extremely overrated and also the weather there sucks ass for my own personal taste. others might disagree. fine.

The tracking programs already exist. At my last company, they tracked way beyond just keystrokes and mouse clicks. In addition to our keystrokes, all of our calls were automatically transcribed and you would get rated on your tonality. The machine learning would know if you had a positive call, an aggressive call, etc. They would flag typed and voice conversations and review them with you. I think the primary function of the reviews was just to remind you they're always watching. Since all the monitoring was filtered through algorithms, they were only pinged/flagged on parameters that they set. This was in addition to screen captures/recordings. If someone used a macro on their keyboard to type something and then delete it, you would see in the screenshots what they were doing. Same with the "mouse hacks".

The whole tipping thing to me (and I assume also to almost every other European) is actually mad. If I spend 100 on a dinner, I should also add to that 20 because....what? The employer doesn't pay enough the staff so I am supposed to?
@poorlyproducedcontent2230
@poorlyproducedcontent2230 Жыл бұрын
Yeah, that's the issue with American style modern capitalism. They never "pass the savings on to the consumer", they think it's their right to pay someone nothing and make consumers pay a premium. Funnily enough tipping was brought over from the Europe, where people there would show how wealthy they were by tipping wait staff.
@Olivia-bl8ez
@Olivia-bl8ez Жыл бұрын
STOP!!! The tipping stuff pisses me off cuz it’s obviously from people who never served. I was a waitress for 10 years in a state that paid me $2.13 and in a state where I had to make minimum wage. I MUCH preferred the state where I made $2.13 plus higher tips and every single waitress/ waiter I know that makes nothing per hour feel the same way. I like that when I’m super busy, I make bank at the end of the night. It makes the busy nights worth it. Otherwise, I’d be annoyed every time A customer walked in. Also in a state where I make $2.13 per hour it was always super easy to get a job because the employer only has to pay me like $10 my first night. Worst case, the boss loses $10. Best case, they just realized they’ve hired their best server yet. Every time I walked into a restaurant here asking about a job I always walked out with one. Vs the state they had to pay me $15 per hour I had to walk into literally 200 restaurants before I got a job. Plus on a super busy night I’d walk out with $500-$1000 in tips. There’s no way the restaurant would be able to pay us that. So on behalf of all servers, please shut up about our employers not paying us enough. We don’t want it and we’d much rather make tips.

It'll make a lot more sense if you look into the history of it. Tipping didn't become the norm in the US until the 1950-1960s, specifically during the civil Rights movement. Essentially, white folks got pissed they couldn't pay black people less than white people, but there were a LOT of black people working in serving positions, due to a lack of education and ability to gain skilled labor. Of course, as soon as capitalism realized hey "we can pay EVERYONE less money regardless of their skin color" that shit took off. Murica. Most of our "how the FUCK did this become a thing." Questions typically end with "because racism" another example would be Confederate statues. It was a hot button topic here a few years ago because some people wanted them removed from public areas. Course, the people arguing for keeping them never seemed to mention that the majority of them were erected during the SAME period that black people were protesting for equal treatment as a silent "don't push us" threat.
