Its really a game changer, lets you have so much more control over the scene, you can render, and change all the textures after so long as you don't need to change any geo. Used it a few years ago when I was working on very slow to render scene that I was going to need to texture at a later point.

It works, but there's issues with white pixels on the outer edge of the flag. It think those are due to rounding errors in the UV mapping. Not sure. Also, the subdivision rounds the corners visibly, unless you use "Simple". I think a more traditional approach works better in the long run, especially if you model the strings with which the flag is tied to a pole. It simply looks better, but is a lot more work obviously.
@81fiths2 жыл бұрын
you could also just add an image texture in the shading tab and you got the same result unless there is something different

You forgot to create a single subdivision initially to get 2 even squares, which means all of your geometry was rectangles, which you know is not “correct” deformation of cloth.
@yosyp59054 жыл бұрын
to be fair if you subdivide enough, rectangles become so little that it doesn't matter. At least in a logical standpoint, I don't know Blender physics.

Great tutorial - Thank you. So the issue I have is when you add any other geometry to this - because of the UV Map method it seems to apply the flag texture to ALL objects in the scene - including the flagpole - how do you get it to only apply to the flag itself? I'm guessing it's something to do with the Alpha Number in the Map uv node?
