Disclaimer: You won't necessarily be using Parent space when animating, but it's very important to understand that all calculations for any given object are done in it's Parent space. So if you come across a situation where you're moving your object on just one axis in for example Local space, and if multiple axis are being adjusted in curve editor, you will know why.
