Fascinating Fusion! I noticed that the added frets are more around 50 cent deviations. Is this a feature more of persian music? In your book on arabic music I read that there something between -45c and -35c is typical. Maybe I should also check out your book on persian music for guitar. But there is more to this. Those beats made by accents of the melody inviting to tap with the foot... I find playing solely with the thumb challenging. This is your way to imitate the arabic long plec, right? Maybe I should try another technique? I don't have long fingernails because I need to keep them short for piano playing.

The frets are a little less than 50 cent. Between the position and the string being bent by the path travelled plus the finger pressure gives me about -40. In this way I can mess around with different finger-pressure as well as just pure traditional string bending in order to get different microtones. Yeah, the melody in the middle is inspired by an Egyptian folk tune. It is a typical beat for party, celebrations, etc. Yes, the thumb imitates the plectrum and it gives a nice tone on the nylon strings. You can try with a flat-pick but use something non plastic. I sometimes use a wooden pick, got the idea from Afghan Rabab players. They use nylon guitar strings too and get a really beautiful tone.
